I don't know if I'm the only one,but I'm actually pleased that G.E.is getting out from underneath all these Get go's.I knew years ago that EV were going to be the upcoming wave of the future..and the cost to upgrade to super charger machines would be extremely expensive..and for years scientists and experts have been saying the Earth's oil supply isn't going to last forever..maybe another 30 years..I myself don't think the Get Go brand was a well thought out plan.

I don't think CT buying a regional C-Store with roughly 270 locations will be blocked by the court. Courts look at mergers and what the impact is on consumers and the competition. 270 locations is NOT going to impact competition. This isn't a 3-way trade like in baseball. They are two separate transactions looked at separately. The courts are not going to block, nor would I suspect even look hard at, the GetGo deal. 7-11 / Speedway, that is another story.

If something were to get blocked, my guess is CT would just keep buying up these small, regional C-Stores because that would draw less attention. They could do it in markets all over the USA and keep building their portfolio slowly.

Hey BA… I really don’t care if you have 1,000 pencil pushing ambulance chasers working on getting this deal done as you claim.

Congress will not allow it to go through if 7-11 is part of the package, don’t you know any better at your level?

I realize you’re a rather disconnected from the real world, let alone government oversight, so do please allow me to spell it out for you,

Unfortunately, Mr. A, I was unable to utilize colorful crayons to make this more comprehendible for your underperforming skillset, but I think you get the point here.

Your comments are amusing though, especially about pricing, everyone who has ever heard of giant eagle knows d@mn well it’s overpriced. We just accepted that in order to be fooled at the gas pumps.

BUT, fear not BA, we will be happy to send out a standard funeral deli tray for your calling hours in an effort to show you just how much we appreciated your 90 years working for us. Please do not ask for a complimentary pastry tray though, it isn’t in the budget quite frankly.

At least your train is leaving early though, and what’s this… arriving on platform 4 ahead of schedule, KROGER you say?

Bring on the UP VOTES!

Good lord people.

The company was told that LK was voted out unanimously by the board...which includes JW who took his grandfathers vote.

The sale is going through. There's a massive amount of lawyers dotting i's and crossing t's.

From what I hear, Circle K's IT is a disaster and looking to take quite a few from GE. Stay tuned.

BA in his "town hall" said he'll listen to any offer for GE.

Does anybody on this board know anything other than "GE su-ks and their prices are too high"? This is pathetic.

Two things here:

one, this will never go through the courts approved and

two, when it’s rejected, who do you think the circle k’s parent company will decide to buy, 7-11 or GetGo?

Choose wisely!

Karet said she made the decision “to move on to the next chapter of my life and leave Giant Eagle,” adding that she “will be taking some much-needed time with my family.”
She didn't get "booted".

Haha. Okay we’ve got some comedians on this page. “Wasn’t booted”. Yeah okay, sure.

I wasn't booted. I resigned to pursue other interests and spend time with my family.

I give it 95% it’s sold in 5 years or less. When LK was booted it was only a matter of time.

What % would you say Giant Eagle gets sold within the next 5 years?

This is NOT good news for the longevity of Giant Eagle from a corporate perspective. Retail labor will always be needed and kept no matter who purchases supermarket, get go or pharmacy.

The sale of Get Go makes the company debt free.

They are converting franchise stores to corporate stores at a fast rate.

Corporate layoffs.

How many more clues do you guys need? Any sale takes years...so corporate positions will still be there for 3-5 i would say from today. Also, go back to press clippings when BA is asked about sale of the company. He has NEVER said NO.

For those that THINK Circle K will not change anything like Speedway did not change when 7-11 bought them… your way off folks! That is a rarity and there is a reason a company sells an arm of their division, if it is NOT because they are printing money. Do your research folks, Circle K has a partnership with Acme back in the day, may still be going for all I know, and only offered them 10 cents max.

My biggest question, what will giant eagle blame their ridiculous prices for now that Fuelperks will be going away. Remember foodperks, because if they THINK that will keep the company profitable, open your ops playbook and recall the failure that was.

Rest in peace Giant Eagle, rest in peace indeed!

I hope the first thing the new company does is fire all Getgo District leaders. Especially the one in Pittsburgh who thinks she is still in high school and acts like it. Payback for all the trouble she has started over the last few years.

LOL - The auto correct function thing is removing the R from Couche-Ta-d. I wonder if it’ll remove the U is I spell it Couche-Tu-d.

The Union Getgo employees will be given the opportunity to either stay with the new company or go into a union Giant Eagle. Doesn’t sound too bad.

If you work at one and you are union, you are sc--wed and they don't care. Period.

Hopefully they change a lot because Getgo is trash. The stores are dirty, employees hate working there. And like Giant Eagle prices are outrageous.

Doesn't really sound like much will change. 7-11 apparently acquired Speedway back in 2011 and I go to my local speedway on the corner a lot and I had no idea. I also just saw online that Couche-Ta-d just put an offer in to acquire 7-11s, just posted hours ago.

The fact they are keeping the Get-Go Rewards Program, at least for now, is a sign to me that they aren't really interested in changing anything.
