Qualcomm has very slow career advancement and leaves no room for initiative taking. I thought I was making a good choice for my future when I joined four years ago and now I realize that I basically brought it to a screeching halt. I as good as wasted those years.

Benn with q for short time too, not only career is badly affected also personally attacked by a group of fools. Stay away from it if you can.
Q is for long time fools not suitable for new grats or talented ppl. Carefully to jump to it and it can possibly ruin your career.
If you want to be recycled every 10 years Q is right for you. The old guard needs you to keep their positions in the hierarchy. You will notice they have been there for 20 25 30 years. No one really survives under them you are flushed down the layoff toilet so they can keep their positions. If you are young don't your career there.
Well...these VP/SRDir/Dir will never leave Q - they are unemployable anywhere else. They cannot even do effective program management. Many other companies, you need to come up with YOUR OWN work and cannot feed off one group or one engineer against other...
Agree. Especially if you are in QCT SW DEV and MST. The VP's in these groups have created coteries of directors and senior directors who will never leave Q and in addition block everyone below them to move forward. Any need to cut cost, they will take your job and move it to QIPL. If your work profile is "geo-shiftable" then get out of Q asap. Move to BA at the opportunities are more than that in SD. Leave these termites to feed on what is remaining and bring it down.
If Hock Tan had taken over, the termites would be the first to go and they would have gone ignominiously. Productive workers in junior ranks would have been rewarded tremendously. Q has gone from $79 to $170 while AVGO has (accounting for stock split) gone from $27 to $134.
