Look folks there is absolutely no reason to freak out about the layoff. Either you're going to get axed or not. There's absolutely nothing you can do about it. So don't worry. You'll go crazy. It's not like you're going to die if you're selected. Just forced to find a new job. Difficult but doable. It's just life.

Based on the history, most of laidoffs from Cisco are over 40, extremely tough to find another job.
It will be fine!
In this economy?
I was layed off or pushed out a few times in my 50's and always had another job within 30-60 days. First "pushed out" (with $100k and a job lined up) was from Cisco. It will be fine!
A lot of tech workers in Silicon Valley who lose jobs in their 40's are not able to find another job in the tech industry.
Id love ER package but I doubt they will ever offer that again.
You sound like you still live with your parents... wait until you get married, kids, and has a mortgage to pay. Ignorant
I was LR’d last year after 10 years at Cisco (and I found a better job internally and moved up in grade level). I have a major surgery coming up, and was nervous about the prospect of going through surgery and losing my job/insurance. A friend put it in perspective…he said, “You’ve now been employed by Cisco for over 4,000 days of your life….only one of those days you woke up and learned you lost your job…and you went and found a better opportunity.” It’s so true…while it could happen it’s not statistically likely, and if it does, things will go on (the whole life is happening for you, not to you perspective.)
Not everyone recovers from a corporate layoff.
