The NASDAQ is up 40% in less than 10 months and the S&P 500 is up 36% over the same time period. Capitalism charges what the market will bear and we learned the market will bear a lot so profits are also way up. A correction of some kind is inevitable. A depression can't be ruled out but there is no obvious "this is definitely going to happen" trigger that's already gone off. There are always potential triggers which could change things immediately and drastically.

We were bound for a recession until COVID...

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_recessions_in_the_United_States we see a recession at the beginning of COVID where the "GDP decline (peak to trough)" was -19.2% which included a loss of more than 24 million jobs so the US definitely had a recession. Without artificially low interest rates and extensive quantitative easing a recession would (and arguably should) have occurred well before that.

OP, I don't know if you are correct but I do believe a recession is inevitable.
We were bound for a recession until COVID + 4 trillion in stimulus was pumped into the economy.

The natural 7-8 year bo-m/bust economic cycle was disrupted.

Doesn't matter is the next POTUS, recession is likely on it's way. Look at all the layoffs lately, and I'm not just referring to Cisco.

TLDR live within your financial means, life is much easier to survive in troubled times when you do.

Doomsayers yapping about armageddon coming for decades now but only for the real estate & stock market to be at all time high, if i listened to you id--ts i would not have been a multi millionaire now. The problem right now is only shitsco specific, lot of other companies are strategizing , planning & executing well. Get it to your brains.

I don't think so currently CPI has been brought down to 2.9% from 9.8% couple of years back, I think global economy will improve as soon as Feds start cutting rates which might happen as soon as september and they will keep cutting through 2025 to bring it down to 2 to 3 % where our inflation will be. Real estate will go bonkers imagine loans at 3% again, cheap money to borrow for tech again especially startups and small companies more innovation will happen AI, cloud, cyber security...etc. Only question is will Cisco successfully transition to AI or will be like another intel going down the drain. If we don't have good visionary tech leaders to navigate the ship it will go down like titanic, hiring and firing employees continuously every 6 months is not the answer to problems it causes extreme panic, instability and fear. Cisco used to be #1 tech company 25 years back with market cap more than half trillion beating microsoft, now look at where microsoft is more than 3 trillion dollars mcap. Infact we have like 7 tech companies above trillion dollars mcap which is really amazing didn't imagine this in my wildest dreams, companies with right vision and execution will only survive.

Cisco was the winner during the dot com bo-m. Cisco, intel and others are the losers in the AI bo-m.

Don’t hang on to a job at a losing company. The world isn’t burning down just Cisco.

The global economy today is
NOTHING like the 1970s !

The USA went off the gold standard
in 1972 FFS !!

Very similar to dotcom. One chart compares Cisco's crash to Nvidia. Its clear the AI bubble will end up like any bubble. Tech doesn't exist in a vacum. The economy can not sustain a 5% fed fund rates for much longer. Don't confuse large cap bubble with a good economy.
