Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Poll

I would love to do a poll on how many are miserable at Dell and are waiting to be shown the door.
Honest answers only please.
Just a simple comment underneath if you are patiently waiting on that HR call.
Sick of getting sc--wed by management?
Lets hear it with numbers.

Quiet quitting, no overtime and enjoy your life during your personal time outside working hours.

Miserable?? He-l no! No job is worth it to sit there and be Miserable.

I do my work, to what I think is a high enough standard. That's about all I can control, the rest is out of my hands, so why worry about it. Just focus on the task in front of me right now

My actual job i enjoy. The constant fear of being let go I hate.

But I hate Jeff Clarke the most.

No. It's a bad company compared to it's piers. You wouldn't know since you admit you are stored away in some lab installing/fixing equipment.

The world has passed you by, my friend.

Dell while not what it was is still a good company. If I need time off it is never an issue. With all my wife's health issues I never get push back. I've been places really horrible about things like that. While they never promote you till your at the top of pay grade. I have always received raises and bonuses. I work in one of the giant labs. You really can't replace me with ai since I fix physical hardware. I also can't WFH due to my job. I have been there physically all through the pandemic. We hate the forced return to work as these people are pi---d they have to come in for 39 days per quarter. All they do is come in and then jump onto a meeting and sit there on their headsets for 3 hours then go home.

For those waiting to "get a great SaaS" gig that is dilusional. There are a lot of unemployed high tech people from Intel, Google, Meta, Twitter, Meta, AWS, HP Enterprise with much more marketable skills then Dell refuse. SaaS companies don't hire ex-Dell employees because of their lack of relevant skills. The business model for subscription based SaaS business is different than Laptop/Desktop/Server peddling that Dell dose. You will have a long un-employed period before you get a low paying job if lucky.

Just do your job and get paid, find happiness outside of work.
We're here for a short time, not a good time ; )

VSP would create a stampede out the door. That is no exaggeration.

If I recall, when they did the VSP, they exceeded the number expected. Most likely that's why it's not being offered now. The way they are doing it now, they control the numbers.

I want to leave but I can't. I spent 15 years in the same low skill roll. I have no marketable skills transferable outside of Dell.

What a miserable soul you must be to try creating such a poll! Go and get a life to live!!

Yup. Engineering and awaiting a package. 3.5 years here and I don't see a lot of financial upside. Ready to move on to bigger fish.

They had a VSP once and stopped doing it. I think the number of volunteers would be overwhelming.

support the team while coffee-badging in office days, taking the occasional quiet vacationing, and searching for a new gig while awaiting for the call

Yup! In Sales and waiting to get my package.

I’ve hit my quota nearly every quarter and have won many rewards. Dell will do everything in their power to not pay you and keep you in role for as long as possible.

Waiting to get the package so I can jump ship to a SaaS company and make 3x what I am now.
