For those of us in IT unaware of who "Soler" and "Candyman" refer to... who are they actually?

Candyman is "Executive Vice President, Chief Digital & Technology Officer, UnitedHealth Group" - AW hired him away from Mars, the candy - and pet food! - company. You know, for his deep healthcare 🍭and technology 🍬experience

Soller is 2 levels down from Candyman, enterprise tech infra platform svcs

To add to the post(s) below, they also perfected the art of Reach Arounds. They reach around to their unskilled friends and family they hired for answers and guidance. Simultaneously, reaching around urban dictionary definition #2 with each other.

Who are soler and candyman? Yes men who are willing to bend over “backwards” for each other along with their favorite lackeys who do the same.

20+ years ago Best Buy tried outsourcing all its IT to Accenture, and then, when that wasn't cheap enough, to Wipro. After a near-death experience, 10+ years ago they reversed course. Maybe that will happen here, too, but I doubt it, and I can't wait 5-10 years for them to learn the same lesson over again.

History will repeat itself.. just as the tops celebrate their brilliant strategy to leverage offshore for cheaper labour, offshore also knows how to bank on recurring revenues. How? No more SMEs onshore on due diligence on deliverables.

So called “leaders” will create (if not already) “buffer” zone as their shields. They will ride into the sunset with golden parachutes.. . .

Posts below nailed it under the US IT org under soler, candyman and company= offshoring as many US employees at a huge rate, while not disclosing their agenda to the masses.
Work costs from these offshore employees from wipro, etc actually costs more in the end, than US employees due to constant need of "training" and forever "looking at the data" excuses as to why many agendas cannot be completed. Lest not forget the wonderful talent in "leadership" under candyman, soler who lost / sold their souls and humanity to become the filth of society by lying, manipulating the staff for years, and down right grade A narcissists.

Don't worry. Optum offshoring its tech jobs is the company ringing its own deathknell. We've all seen what these offshore employees are capable of and it's not impressive.

The company has a goal that 60% of tech workers should be located overseas.

Every time a US employee resigns a few requisitions are opened over in India, or the Philippines.

If not an outright layoff, they will make it uncomfortable for US based employees until they leave and the goal is met.

None confirmed yet but I hear the larger US IT org will be affected by a new leaders idea of globalization. ie, get rid of as many US workers as they can so they can pay some contractor in the Philippines peanuts to take your job. Probably won't affect people like soler but us US people Under him will get the shaft sooner then later.
Add more contractors making $4 an hour. The operation directors and their Sr director of the helpdesk have about combined 2 year of experience at UHG.... That's for 5 people. All hired at the lowest possible wage.
In a town hall someone should ask if UHG sees itself as causing harm to the US economy by offshoring so many good paying jobs. The jobs report last month was terrible....
