Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Audio staffing shortage

Hmm I wonder what happened with the GDL people they replaced the US staff they laid off or fired?
As of late, Managers and TLs have been micromanaging the few of us US staff remaining. policing every single minute every break and basically telling us no bathroom breaks if possible. They complain that it is because they're "very short staffed" some RIs on special projects, blah blah blah.
Well, who the hecks fault is it that we're short staffed?! It is so ridiculous that all i can do is laugh.

P.S. Yes I have been searching elsewhere for a job for the past 4 months. I have a Bachelor's, but the job market is really tough right now.

Nielsen as a whole is crumbling, this is what happens when you put people in charge of important things only because they are cheap and not because they are fit. Nielsen will be a company for the opportunistic, the d-mb and the "I just keep my head down and make my money, there's no way I could get another job in the world that pays me what I'm making today".

If you care about yourself and your career just leave, move on and don't look back, this company is doomed in the hands of the cheap and opportunistic, not the fit and smart!

Nielsen is a dumpster fire from one end to the other, no matter what department or business unit you reside in.

All of the staff shortages, offshoring, micromanaging, layoffs and the like are due to years of bad business decisions that have finally sunk the ship, with the current mumble-mouth CEO and heartless hedge fund owners a fitting end to a once descent place to work.

Some words of advice ... stop trying to figure things out and move on with your life and professional career. Nielsen is not worth any of your time investment anymore, and it's now time to find a better place to work at.

There is a ton of fake information floating around; do your research and you will see the people responsible for the huge mess that Nielsen got themselves into.

Yeah— gonna go one step further to say: If you truly give a damn about all this, then at least do your due diligence; research provides insights and answers that dispel a great deal of the speculation and ‘why don’t they/didn’t they’ BS….

To add to my previous posts, GDL are contract workers, governed by multi-million dollar OUTSOURCING contacts that were agreed upon years ago (look it up) not the same as the new Global Center employees in Mexico City/India/Poland—these new hires are Nielsen employees and represent OFFSHORING.
It’s obvious that the terms of those outsourcing contracts included timeframes for training and, even if not explicitly stated, would result in the eventual replacement of US RI’s, hence the not-so-slow but continuous US layoffs and terminations, facilitated by the steady transfer of the majority of sample being funneled to GDL.
Nielsen mgmt has no ability to change GDL schedules without contractual agreement…
In other words, when TL’s cite US metrics vs GDL as if it’s ’us against them’— it’s because THAT IS THE G’D FACT. When they more recently refer to GDL as our ‘partners’, it smacks of corporate propaganda and pressure to show a unified front.
Nielsen (and certainly not Audio TL’s and mgmt) can’t dictate new GDL schedules— the contractors/ contracts set forth and negotiate those terms.
Bottom line, we’re all hostages here, and we’re all sc--wed in one way or another….

CST is one hour behind New York (ET)… and yeah— they’re scrambling’— albeit ineffectively— for all the afore- mentioned reasons….
They’re exerting control as the lay offs are coming, per usual…

GDL is CST, two hours behind NYC. But, if Nielsen needed GDL to work EST, they could do that if they aren't already. So, yeah what the heck? Why are they short staffed??? It's their fault for sure! Good luck with your job search!

Nielsen takes care of Nielsen. They're not desperately scrambling. Watch the main chat and see when people message that they're "in," and then tell me anybody is scrambling to make sure of anything. Sometimes I think they only police people they don't like. Health breaks have always driven GL's mad. It's just something for the TL's to actually do...it's all show in my opinion. Same thing with being on camera. That seems to be important when they're either getting ready to lay people off, or possibly a GL told the TL's to crack down...If you gotta go, you gotta go. And, people do get sick, and they should take the time they need, because it isn't Nielsen who gives a care about their physical or mental health.

The point of the previous post was to say that GDL is alive and well, taking majority of sample; but since many of them don’t come on until 1pm means that micro-managing— from breaks to bladders—is in full force, particularly during those pre-GDL hours.
Also, guessing that many RI’s are taking PTO now— calling out ‘sick’, etc.—-rather than risk losing it in the inevitable lay offs; mgmt desperately scrambling on a daily basis to crack the whip over those who do show up, in an attempt to compensate for the additional workload created by these ‘unanticipated’ abscences (tho surely they saw them coming??!!).
Just my own breaktime speculation ….

How many weeks do we have until Audio diary is gone for the US? 2 or is it 3? How many RI's left are only trained to call diary? TL's and management tell us that they're done letting people go, and that seems like a bold face lie. I would say that any RI that is not trained in recruitment is probably bracing themselves for the next round of layoffs. If your numbers are bad, you're probably bracing yourself for the next round of layoffs. And, the next round must be right around the corner, coinciding with the end of diary calls. I'd be using sick time, and looking for another job. They're liars, so who really knows what the reason is for being short staffed. Yeah, they laid people off, they treat the people they do have like id--ts, and then they wonder why they're short staffed? Terrible managers.
