He has single handedly destroyed this organization. Most leaders that have this track record are fired. Is it his DEI approach? Yes. Is it his hunger for money? Absolutely. This is the thread to voice your opinion and get him to step down. We hate you. You son of a bi--h. You ruined this place. My friends are gone because you FU--ING SU-K!

Lederer and Hall are already out…doesn’t everyone already know that they have left?
Folks,
JL& SLT or your leaders are not calling the shots. BCG has a plan and each year the plan is double digit profit growth.
Whether this is closings, cuts, reorganizations, all about improving the position of our debt holders.
Staples DEI strategy is to keep the same people in place in leadership so they don’t have to hear any other opinions. Actual DEI work is considered a “nice to do” at Staples.
He had a store remodeled since his gf had to wait in line for amazon returns
Your anecdotal experience of seeing “a bunch of white dudes in senior leadership roles” is not a valid argument against the fact that Staples is actively seeking non-white male candidates. It was literally on a public forum for a job post…
Can someone clue me in on what DEI hiring everyone is talking about? I still mostly see a bunch of white dudes in senior leadership roles…
I see a job posting on LinkedIn by a staples recruiter that has mention of #InclusionMatters. It’s gotten to the point where it’s in plain sight that they’re actively putting DEI at the forefront of their hiring practices.
You’re watching Staples Inc imploding.
The results speak for itself
I agree with the OP. DEI has created a very toxic environment here at Staples. Nothing will change this group of awful "leadership". They just like the yes men that work for them. Reality is they destroyed a good company. Get out ahead of layoffs if you can. This company is very mismanaged and has no future. Staples has become irrelevant to US consumers and businesses.
OP, you know nothing about Staples's leadership or its history; and you certainly demonstrate no understanding of what Sycamore Partners (the company signing Lederer's checks) intends to do with this company or why they chose Lederer for the task.
DEI initiatives were a _very_ strong reason for Staples's success in the peak years - and were a very big reason why morale within the company was high and why turnover was low. You may not remember the efforts we put in to make the 30-by-10 BHAG succeed. If you do, then you also know how close we came to that, only for it all to turn to ashes in our mouths when the reality of the merger proposition hit and the crash that followed sent a lot of us reeling. DEI didn't do that; Ron Sargent and the leadership team in place then did by lying to us all along.
Sycamore Partners has one goal with Staples - to strip as much value as they can out of the company - its branding, its service model, its assets - and then to dump all of the debt it holds from its other holdings and dump it onto Staples, Inc. before selling it to the next chump who thinks that retail is a mere side hustle. Lederer came in as CEO to do Sycamore's bidding, and Sycamore's bidding has nothing to do with keeping any retail business afloat long-term.
To be fair, no one else wants the job. If you are a rising star, why risk your reputation if the business fails. If you are a tenured CEO, why run a sinking ship.
DEI is as racists as it gets. Hiring someone based on their color of skin vs skills and experience is flawed and racist. Do you want your pilot to be a DEI hire that was hired because the color of their skin vs being the best pilot? Didn’t think so Kamala Kuck.
What specifically is his DEI approach? Remember, your coworkers are regarded as coworkers, not friends either.
