Serious question. If the company is giving severance why not just offer buyouts to our union friends?

If by buy outs, you mean "bye, OUT!" then the answer is likely....YES!
While we are sweating about getting canned. Looks like brass is getting a nice tip for the heartless job of firing people because of bad management.

yeh good idea but offer buyouts to everyone. company bloated with nonunion genx. been there too long but not old enough to retire. they leave willingly with $ and save people doing the actual work from a layoff.
