Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Correct me if I'm wrong....

Back in 2005, Federated decided to buy out the May stores and change all stores, except Bloomindales to Macy's.

Instead of Terry and his yes people being sensitive to those markets, they traveled around the country and parties to further alienate the customers. Macy's was on top of the world, they had "big meetings", and even rented out Radio City Music Hall and theaters across the country for simulcast. They filmed skits, wore stupid costumes, and made grand entrances.

Then the collapse started, stores closed including those they just acquired. Customers in many markets decided to boycott Macy's, the stock plummeted, the music and dancing stopped, the brakes were put on travel, and rumors of a buyout started.

Did TL and his goon squad apologize? No they negotiated guaranteed salaries and perks, took their money and ran.

So why so long a post, and what I'm getting at?
Times have changed, executives and employees have came and gone, and once again the stores are shuttering.

One part of the skit talked about had TL dressed up as the sun and the others rotating around him. Executives will continue that mindset, but remember this.

Macy's revolves around the employees and customers period, they've lost that principle years ago. Don't let the store closings, stock prices, layoffs, or especially management ever take your value away. Hang in there, I know not everyone gets recognition for their hard work. I was in corporate for 22 years and saw it week after week!

Let’s all be honest…this isn't Macy’s…its Federated disguised as Macy's and the only thing we care about is Real Estate…not clothing or revolutionizing the industry *period

To the person who replied "Who cares", I do, along with thousands of my former colleagues their families and those future ones that will be effected by greedy management.

It obvious you've never had your family's holidays ruined by being told at the end of January you're no longer going to have a job

My loyalty and the others meant nothing to these people.

I remember the May acquisition very well from working in Macy’s Tech. A lot of travel to help setup these locations technology, moving some locations “Down the Mall” and then closing some locations. Really turned out well didn’t it LOL.

When Macy's got rid of Famous-Barr in St. Louis area it was the beginning of the end. Everyone shopped at Famous and there were stores everywhere.

Now we are (soon to be) down to 3 from roughly 17.

Macy's acquisition was in the mid-90's as they emerged from bankruptcy and May Co. was in the mid-2000's. The national nameplate transition to Macy's was in 2007 I believe. The great demise of the company began in the latter years of TL as the transitioning plans were being made for JG to assume CEO....after which the demise accelerated quickly.
