IT Layoffs Going on Right Now

Several managers, directors, and engineers all being laid off.

Good thing the C-Suite keeps getting new people.

If you lay off 10% or more of your workforce, you legally have to go on a hiring freeze. Not only this, but there tends to be more media "attention" when this happens. They are likely layering layoffs to avoid both of these from happening. Anyone reach out to any media and let them know this is happening?

There are more employees than higher ups... If people start striking and refusing to play into there game you may be able to push back. If people stop doing the work, it will force them to reevaluate. They can't fire everyone. Show them you don't agree with what is happening or what they are doing. Actions are louder than words. I know many departments that are doing this right now. Secure your bag and dip.

Got the RIF finally this week. So happy honestly. After the last RIF in April when they fired many great people to the streets made it my mission to do absolutely zero work through the next round. Took 5 months! Corporations are evil folks. Medical Solutions was the lowest-paying of my 3 remote FT jobs anyway. Take everything you can and get your bag peeps. GL and thanks MSG for the free 🏦

Can anyone summarize what the email from the CTO regarding the layoff said?

18 total IT personnel (between the 13th and 14th). The CTO finally sent an email at 6:30pm CT with an explanation.

Unfortunately the new CEO is going to be the fall guy when this is all over. I’d be surprised if they right the ship, sell to the lowest buyer and replace the leadership. Remember the board makes all the calls.

Does anyone remember when the new CEO "swore on her children's lives" that they weren't preparing to sell the company? I found that alarming-- and clearly not very trustworthy.

Any idea of what the headcount was for this round?

There hasn't even been a "good" quarter in the last 1.5 - 2 years. That's why the PUP payout stopped. The quarters weren't being met even back then. To think that will change is wishful thinking.

Whether they look profitable (to sell) or not won't really matter now that the name of the company has been tarnished and tainted. Knowing that the traveling nurses are aware of the shadiness of what the company has turned into and the behind the scenes layoffs, you really think they would want to associate with that? They will just go to a competitor company instead. The company clearly didn't think of the long term affect this would have on the company name nor did they care.

Honestly, selling the company may not be the worst thing. After all this, who would want to associate with a company like this.

Looking profitable isn’t a one year thing. To truly attract investors and buyers you either have a good P&L for a good 2-3 quarters or some strong advance that’s a value prop worth getting more money for the runway.

There's no fear stemming from selling the company. At this point, it would probably be better under the new company.

The fear is of the unknown. Of wondering if that meeting with my manager will also have someone with HR in it. With every Teams ping coming in wondering if today my ticket is getting pulled.

It comes from the utter lack of communication and transparency from the C-Suite coupled with on-going "quiet" layoffs. The optics here are bad. Bad Q1 and Q2 sales numbers mean the only way to look profitable (insert C-Suite catchphrase EBITDA) is to cut costs so that a potential buyer still looks at you. No one wants to buy bloat.

Maybe the C-Suite should think about whether we need a CSTO and CHRO at this point. How many people could have been saved today with the salaries from those two?

Could someone please explain the fear of selling the company to me? With a completely new c-suite that is layoff-happy what difference does it make if the company is sold compared to its current state now? Genuinely asking.

I had been saying this for months. I don't think it's about rebranding at this point anymore. It's to make the company look more appealing to sell.

I'm so so sorry for those being laid off today. Medical Solutions should be ashamed of themselves at this point.

I was in a room full of 100+ traveling nurses recently, some of which didn't have anything positive to say about Med Sol with all the changes and layoffs that have been occurring. The nurses know about it too. Safe to say even those who got contracts through Med Sol will be leaving the contract after knowing more of what is truly occurring behind the scenes. It was different hearing stories from them too with experiences they had with this company. Exact words from the nurses "we aren't going to support a company like that." The look of disgust on there faces said it all. The company is losing business big time after all this.

Keep your head up guys. You're worth so much more than this trash company.

With the CEO's push to integrate Host, WorldWide, Matchwell, and C&A, continued layoffs (over 200 in the 14 days of August), complete lack of communication, additional high-level management hires, and reorgs, the writing is on the wall.

They are trying to look profitable enough to sell.
