Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

Layoff Top Tier

Bloated Paramount management could be downsized by elimination of DEI baloney, which has nothing to do with television whatsoever. Invest in the nuts and bolts of the industry and not just the nuts. Three CEOs?! For that?!

How much could be saved if jobs of a dubious functional purpose were trimmed out? In other words, what jobs are really necessary to make entertainment? Right now, there are those making content viewed by millions, produced out of the most meager of facilities. As well, the five minute segment with constant commercial interruption doesn't cut it in a world where the some content providers are able to have in-depth three hour conversations with phenomenal guests about the most amazing topics without interruptions. Linear TV is good for breaking news and little else.

In response to HardworkingBuck, safer than management, in most cases, due to the bloat in management and union contract stipulations regarding compensation during layoffs. Even in the 403G ranks (vast majority of IBEW workers at CBS), the safety net is fairly robust. I should disclose I'm not a union official and somewhat skeptical of the dollar value of union membership at this point. Our next contract should simply advocate for the same package management already receives, for instance. Unlimited vacation. 2-3 days working from home, more holidays than the union gets, etc. Forego raises for all that. Management might bite. But union folks run the joint. There's security in that. If you were here all during COVID-19, you're good.

15% of the workforce is testament to rampant mismanagement on all levels. No wonder the shareholders are suing.

If 1515 becomes a casino, as is rumored, one of the Paramount properties (but not the rancid CBS Mornings show) should do a live show from there as people lose their shirts. It's a bit mercenary, but has the potential to tap the virtually untapped "gallows humor" market. They could use the Wah-Wah-Wah sound from Price Is Right without need to reimburse copyright. It's a win/win.

Get rid of 1515 and bring it back to billionaire row on 57th. We need to see who's left.

A downvote here, like in the inclusion world, means an upvote. FYI.
