RN, admin (FL-OPTUM-optum and wellmed are merging in FL to "OneTeam"), almost 5 years; pay grade 26. They always make sure to lay off those with the higher chance of stock purchase and 401K vesting coming up at 5 years, 10 years, and so on. The longer you are with the company, the more you cost to them as an employee of their company. It's sad that you put your entire life into this company to serve patients in need when constantly understaffed, just to be dumped like a piece of trash. Meanwhile, CEO's and those in senior leadership are making unheard of increased bonuses. Listen to the UnitedHealth Group Q2 2024 Earnings Call video and read their earnings report: https://www.unitedhealthgroup.com/investors.html. They continue to blame things on Change healthcare (which may I remind you is THEIR third-party company that was hit by cyber-attack), while continuously increasing earnings. This company chooses to lay off employees vital to the patients they serve with no remorse. The only thing this company cares about is their pockets-any and every single penny they can save (even though it affects employees and patients tremendously in a negative way). PS, they always do layoffs RIGHT after their earnings summary announcements in the spring and in the fall.

Daughter worked for them and was on maternity leave. She received the cryptic email and then a call. Now no insurance for the new baby after 8/1.

BS on blaming CMS v 28.

Optum was doing layoffs before that and the continue to grow profit .

It’s pure and simple greed.

I would never sell a business to optum based on what happens to acquired companies, nothing survives.

Here’s an idea don’t give stock to executives anymore to save money ! The executives pull in hundreds of millions in stock (take their salary and multiply by 3 = their stock payouts)

Save maybe a billion in 2-3 years

Stay tuned..thease minion's wont stop. They bit more than they could chew. Dr.Rapier got his money a long time ago. Same speech "dont worry ,blah blah..you stay is on you. keep thinking YOURE safe...a company who does this, has no future,no growth! The values on what this company was built on WAS LOST ALONG TIME AGO! RUN......

I'm in Texas and we had an invite today (7/18/24) at 1:15 for a Southern Region Corporate Town Hall with Witty and Rapier. For some reason, they could not accommodate everyone on the call so we had to disconnect and were told they'd send out a new invite once it was fixed (didn't receive by end of business day).

I cannot believe that this is how they're choosing to tell clinic employees. "Don't come to work, we'll mail you your things" as if the employees have done something wrong. I work in corporate (kind of) and I agree with what someone said above, basically, the company bit off more than they can chew.
I was speaking to IT about a week ago and he was telling me they had over 800 layoffs. I'm not sure if this was a contracted agency or our own IT but that's an awful lot of people.

Thanks to everyone who is sharing. I don't think I added much to the convo but it's nice to see you're not alone in all of this. Good luch everyone and no matter what happens, everything will be ok!

All Optum Urgent Care in Socal are closing

they do the WARN analysis ahead of these notifications so none of the closings are of the magnitude to trigger WARN. This is completely related to the CMS reductions in reimbursement due to the administration-driven V.28 changes...the business can not continue structured the way it is and changes to get to a more efficient operating mode have to be made...it really is that simple. Tough decisions. Many acquisitions had been made that made sense at the time (last few years when revenue cycle was higher) and poorer performing practices or those with small panel sizes that are not growing simply cannot be supported by the current administration's moves to reduce funding/reimbursing the MA program. Not political, just a fact.

Wellmed clinics in the north Texas region with more than 100 employees were terminated effective immediately. They are reducing the number of clinics from 105 to 77. Weeks ago, employees were instructed to stay home today, July 18 2024, and attend a mandatory Teams meeting. Invites were sent in stages. The first Teams call started at 7:00am with all on the call being terminated. The next call at 8:00, again, all on the call were terminated. The call at 8:30 informed those employees that there were terminations on the previous calls, however all on this call would remain employed. Security has started changing locks and posting signs at each location. Personal belongings that remain at the locations that are shut down will be mailed or arrangements made to return these items.
Curious how many will be contacting (warn.list@twc.texas.gov) to see if this falls within the Worker Adjustment & Retraining Notification Notices (WARN) act.
