Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Can we discuss job mkt?

I’ve been wanting to leave for a while now. I got to the point of hating every day at work. I’m tired, unhappy, anxious for reasons and for no reasons. Constant stress is taking its toll. On rare occasions when I have enough time to think straight, I can acknowledge I’m exhausting myself for nothing. I’m very close to finally quitting. At the same time I’m hearing about a tight job market, people being without a job for months on time, job offers being comparably worse. What’s your experience? I don’t want to be discouraged from leaving this horrible job.

I don't understand why people stay at a job if it makes them miserable. It's not like a marriage where you should try to stay together. Start looking and applying to other jobs - and if you can't find a new one then be grateful that at least you have an income here.

Depending on what you do for a living, I recommend starting your own business and work for yourself if possible. All of the large insurance companies are run by soulless profit-only focused ghouls. Nothing wrong with making money ethically but that’s not the situation in 2024.

There is an old motto, it’s easier to look for a job when you have a job.

It all depends on what your background is. I’d start to dip your toes in the water and not leave unless it’s really impacting you well being.
