HeUnfair Severance Packages Despite Record Profits

Despite High Profits I recently learned that, in my region, several employees (including myself) are being approached to be let go.

What is particularly infuriating is that our company, which reported a staggering $31.4 billion in revenue for FY23 and substantial profits, is offering only the minimum severance required by law. This is despite the fact that no options for relocation to other departments were provided. It is outrageous and unacceptable for a company with such high profits to treat its employees this way. For a company that prides itself on its values and employee-first culture, this approach feels incredibly hypocritical.

We deserve fair treatment and adequate compensation, especially given the significant contributions we have made to the company's success.

A Concerned Employee.

I feel bad for you and any employee that this might happen to but regarding your remarks about a (for-profit) company having values and being an employee-first company: it is a company that exists primarily to make as much money for its shareholders as possible, within the rules imposed by governments and unions across the globe. If your government or union doesn't protect you, they will pay as little as possible. And with the 2024 trend, to layoff small(-er) groups of employees spread out over the year, rather than one "big bang" layoff, I would assume it's even easier for them to dictate terms.
