Engineers, how many people do you know have left recently? Lead developer on my team left about a month ago, and a lead dev on the team working adjacent to us had his last day this week and said something along the lines of "if you guys want to leave, leave"

in engineers also , some are highly paid, as they have 10 plus years, vs some 5 plus, 10 plus will be cut first as they cost more. 5 plus are cheap so they can stay
Some are on visa n greencard young in 30z n 40z they'll stay here for 10 more years
I know 3 people who have opted to retire stating the RTO finalized their decision
remote engineers are safe , market outside is bad, so hang in there...
If they really layoff . take the severance, I know a lot of people waiting to take that,
one month of pay per year.
