I've read so many comments by either people who no longer work for the company, current disgruntled employees or just people who love to gossip. Nobody knows a thing except for a select few who are sworn to secrecy. And this is the reason. Misinformation spreads like wildfire. People say "I have the scoop from very reliable sources." Yeah OK. Sure you do. People freaking out over the smallest things they blow way out of proportion. Relax. After tomorrow you'll see it's not what it's perceived to be. Every company has layoffs and the best way to handle it is to sock away some money any chance you get. That's the main worry after all. Going broke.
