I'm sure y'all know this already
Colleagues,
When we wrote to you at the end of May, we shared that our company needed to make enterprise-wide changes in how and where work gets done to best position John Deere for the future.
We previewed that this would regrettably include reductions to our global production and salaried workforce. Reductions have already occurred or been announced at several factory locations as well as within the Ag Engineering and ISG organizations.
Today, we are writing to let you know that next week, beginning on Wednesday, July 24, we are implementing additional global salaried workforce reductions.
The decision to reduce positions across the organization and part with some of our dedicated and talented colleagues is a result of careful and thorough consideration.
Despite our efforts to contain costs and optimize production and inventory levels, the strategies we have implemented - including a global hiring freeze - have proven insufficient in addressing the challenges posed by declining customer demand, rising costs, and prevailing economic uncertainties crucial for ensuring the long-term health of our business.
Knowing this will be a uniquely difficult period, we are providing details of what to expect next in the hope of giving clarity on our process and answering some of the initial questions many of you have:
First, we are asking all salaried employees whose job responsibilities do not require them to be onsite at one of our facilities to please work from home next Wednesday. Friday. (July 24-26) and postpone any business travel. This will enable us to synchronize virtual communications and allow the colleagues who are leaving Deere to hear and digest the news in private.
Second, all employees will be invited to a global all employee meeting with their CEO Staff (L2) leader scheduled for next Wednesday, July 24 at 7:30 am CT. They will provide more details on the workforce update and how these changes will affect our teams. Important information will be shared, so please make every effort to attend, even if you are on vacation or holiday.
Following the all-employee meeting, employees being separated will be notified and provided with more information about their personalized severance offer and separation details.
We know this is a challenging time. We are grateful to each of you for supporting each other and for your continued contributions to delivering for our customers.
Sincerely,
Signatures of a bunch of mo--ns
