Where it went wrong

Chip paid for a party culture all the time. But he never had accountability for himself, execs and trickle down

Chip used investor dollars to fund his own playground, all while getting a massive tax break if he employed X Amount of PG County individuals because 2U Headquarters was in PG. (again looking out for himself)

What he didn’t realize was he continuously hired individuals who only expected fun and games; didn’t understand the grind that work is, in order to drive results. (The more friends I have at my playgrounds while making money, is A okay)

Paul is a stand up, respectable CEO. He understands, hard work and resilience equals profit. Paul is a CEO beleive in bc he is business centric and also a kind hearted human

Those who degrade this are clearly soft chip snowflakes who milked and continue to milk the system.

Original poster is 100000% correct. Chip never cared. That’s why he was so emotional. To try manipulate and connect

The company should’ve been a 2-3block unit in VA or DC. No PG.

Chip recouped so many tax breaks from hiring people from Prince George’s County

My first interview question was: “do you live nearby to the office”

I hope 2U sells the company for free to Elon Musk and he can make it a 100% South African company with hard working and confident employees. The best employees are long gone at 2U, the best worked for 2tor and John Katzman was the best CEO. The current C suite employees are there due to Nepotism. The regular employees don't do any work and are super lazy.

The party culture at 2U was too extravagant, but it wasn't as frequent as people may think. I'm not sure what people were doing at the top levels all the time, but down in the saw mills, we worked hard and didn't drink each and every day. But it was nice to come to work where there was a chance to have fun too, actually motivating.

We didn't have the money to party the way we did. Ultimately it was our downfall, not the culture itself. We just didn't need Diana Ross, Christian Aguilera, Michelle Obama, Harry Potter World, Mangos, Universal, Frida Pinto, TJ Miller, and others partying with us.

is that the same neustar that went public, acquired a bunch of companies, failed to consolidate them then had to be acquired by private equity at a fraction of their peak price?

Can someone verify whether Paul has any education in business and finance? His LinkedIn says he was a "Senior Manager" in 2000 (when he was 26 years old) but doesn't list any education or work experience before that, and I can't find anything from Google

pauls first update for the company last nov was that "the finances are a mess" and "we have to get the P&L in order".

paul was CFO under chip before he was CEO...which means paul was responsible for the P&L statements. i'm not talking about making financial decisions, i'm talking about the paperwork. his work was a mess according to his own description.

Do you have any idea of how corporate structure works? Paul doesnt approve Chip's decisions. Chip makes the decisions, and if Paul doesnt follow orders he's fired.
