I’m a contractor in OI (medical coder) and we all received a meeting invite this afternoon labeled “Assessment knowledge check” or “assessment instructions” for tomorrow. it’s scheduled for 30mins and the meetings go through out the day in alphabetical order except not every person got an invite. could this be a RIF meeting? I know the meeting title is more specific than usual but someone asked the sender what the meeting was about and they just responded “more information about it tomorrow” plus our dept already had lay offs and furloughs 6 months ago and would recognize the meeting again easily so maybe they’re trying to trick us better this time? supervisors are clueless to what the meeting is about as well.

@omp+1tx9ypal Like I have said multiple times now…. our RIF 6 months ago was on a Wed. We are contractors paid weekly by our contractor companies so we may not fit the usual Optum RIF mold. Either way the meeting wound up not being a RIF meeting but did wind up being a very shady random assessment we all have to take. I think it’s to make cuts.
RIF's are on Thursdays. This one is the 18th...Thursday
Skill surveys are never a good sign. That means they have no clue what anyone does and are looking to chop. Optum is full of silos doing the same thing and with each acquisition it gets worse. Contractors are the first trim since easy to sever. Once that layer gone the come after the FTE people
It’s always Thursday, for the big ones
They did this nonsense on the UHC side a few years back. Leadership gave some generic excuse, as this is nothing; we are just looking at skill sets. A week later, there was a major reorg. Make sure you answer in the area you really want to work in. Rumor has it that the OI and Optum care departments will be merging. There is no need to have multiple teams, such as data, pharmacy, and training teams. Highlight your skill sets if you genuinely want to stay with this sh-t show. I will gladly take the cut, so sick of optum care and how badly it is managed. Bring on Thursday!!
I have jobs for medical coders if you are looking
It’s a shame that we all have to be concerned and speculate about meeting invites. So hard to focus on quality patient care with all this dysfunction.
@cjg+1tx9ypal the meeting is scheduled for tomorrow (tuesday)
Friday is less chances of an incident.
@abs+1tx9ypal Last time we were laid off and furloughed on a wednesday.
On a Tuesday? HIGHLY unlikely
