Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Do we have a clue as to target head reduction?

Do we know how many people volunteered this round? Which numbers beyond that would meet their target? Not that I would be particularly happy or unhappy about losing a job here, I just want to know what’s the wiggle room in which I can continue searching for a another job. Simpler yet, do I have to speed it up?

Every exec I speak with at Intel thinks we will have big reductions soon. 125k company to 80k. Let’s see the financials on 8/1. If there are big restructure charges in the report that will tell you how big the q3 and q4 layoffs will be. Corporate jobs like IT, Finance, HR, Corp services, legal will take a huge hit.

'Best case scenario is a fab spinoff into a much smaller company that is able to service government contracts."

Agreed. Best chance Intel has is to break up.
It got too big and corrupt.

@mxe
Zero chance.

Even if they get a bailout, it’s not going to be with the current 130K employees. Chips money isn’t enough to compete with TSMC and Samsung.

Best case scenario is a fab spinoff into a much smaller company that is able to service government contracts.

Do you really think Intel can pull out of its downward spiral?

Wrong Question.
Do you think that Intel with the help of its majority shareholders will get the US government to bail them out - maybe using national security as a reason?

I think the wisest action you can take now is to look for another job. I am doing it now.

Think for yourself.

Do you really think Intel can pull out of its downward spiral?
Does Pat have the right people to execute to his plan?
