Which org is best for advancement and what are the drawbacks of each one?

Funny that you think there is advancement at Dell.
invest in yourself, not the company group, dummy.
To follow up, you're better looking at the individual job and asking which skills you would like to grow that could be applied outside of Dell. Dell is currently in divestment mode, and has been for the past two years. All indications are they do not see a reason to invest in or grow the business.
If you're at Dell looking for career progression, you're doing it wrong.
