Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Ahead of Thursday

I honestly don’t know how to feel about the coming layoffs. I’m not exactly in the position to be relieved if I lose my job, most of us aren’t. Living costs, debt, extra costs for family, emergency costs, everything most of us have to deal with on a daily basis without breaks or rest, makes us all uneasy about the possibility of being laid off. On the other hand, this company took so much out of me, both mentally and physically, that change is necessary. If only the times were not as turbulent as they are, I would hope to be laid off this week.

I felt the same way April 17-

And then I decided, I hate this job anyway. And I have friends all over the industry, and if I have to sell a few things to stay afloat, then I will. I calculated my severance, figured out how long I would be okay without a paycheck, and decided I was going to be fine no matter what.

And then it happened, and it really was fine. My last day was May 2, I got a 6 week paid summer break, a new job with a higher salary, and what ended up amounting to a 6 week bonus.

Keep your head high- and get resumes out. Get really busy on LinkedIn- and decide to be fine no matter what.

It really is a blessing to get out of there

Does anyone know if we have to keep filing our own stuff or is the scanning team getting laid off also?

Take it as a wakeup call. Never ever get in a debt hole then the company owns you. In the past 34 yrs I have been tossed out 10+ times. First time at age 22 hurt but thankfully I woke up and spent below my income. Debt will steal your soul.
