Latest gossip around the office is that Dell is selling EMC to Nvidia. Doesn't sound right to me. Another thing that suggests something going on is Goals on Storage are not being approved at the usual stupid discount level, and quotes are expiring after 2 weeks.

so rumor has it that Nvidia looking hard at Intel to purchase.
Ha! The BS in this thread. Broadcom, Nvidia or anyone for that matter wouldn't touch Dell with a barge pole.
It's not a sale to Nvidia. It's Broadcom to buy the storage LOB
The EMCers were the best part of the acquisition after they sold VMScare
So was that a farewell meeting from Michael? Does that mean all employees based from EMC payroll will be impacted? Some of us span other groups that were in Cyber and DD
Zero need for them to buy Dell. Too costly.
Ba----g on IBM's blueprint?....what? stop it...please...170B company with 270k employees..They jettison businesses when the margins fall below their targets...FDDs, HDDs, laptops etc etc...I worked there for years...Well run company, really enjoyed my time there
IBM is the blue print. They brought Gerstner in from AMEX, in 1992, after John Akers ruined the company. Then the layoffs and parting out of the company started. Have to keep the stock price up. They started off shoring jobs in 2008-09. now they are forcing managers to come in to an office or get fired. fun times.
NVidia is a short -term supernova. After 10 years it will be barely on the horizon..
Dell is really a nothing company. They’re manufacturing and distribution and don’t get software. The closest they come is an e-commerce site which they didn’t setup properly and still have moratoriums. If the sell off EMC they just go back to being a computer parts company. Not even a very good one either. I think they’re just going to trim down, streamline and bleed the company dry over the next 20 years.
It already su-ks to work there. Which is why I moved on just after covid.
EMC should be sold to some Chinese vendor..
Nvidia likely won't buy a major OEM server or PC business due to existing AMD integration. No conflict with storage. If it were me I'd buy up a lot of companies just in case AI loses it's flare. Nvidia can burn through a lot of cash right now.
lol. no. if that were remotely true the stock would be showing it.
and ceo wouldnt be selling his shares
Not an unreasonable strategy. Nvidia will need to gobble up as many valuable assets as possible before the bubble implodes. The CEO of Nvidia just sold a lot of his stock. Not a great sign that he is "all in on AI".
