Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Rumors that there's more layoffs coming within the next 3-6 months? 😵‍💫

Should all of us who survived the bloodbath just start looking for new jobs now?

More layoffs are coming. They're transferring jobs overseas and pushing to automate anything they can. Searching for any positions they consider duplicated. It's just a waiting game. Most of us are actively searching for new jobs.

There are significant additional layoffs coming at Canon USA. If you survived thus far, you should be looking for another job now. Multiple Professional Services, sales, marketing, finance, support, and other segments overlapping in Boca and NY, is unsustainable. You would have to be living under a rock to think these will not collapse into a single group in NY. Just look at the back and forth on where the first IX1700 would be located, it was a tug of war between Boca and NY. If you believe this is done, go ahead and put your head back in the sand and hope for the best, to everyone else, you better be looking for another job, as your days are numbered. Maybe you'll get lucky and be in the unified group, but then again... maybe not.

If you don't like what people say or predict about potential layoffs and how they feel, don't read the posts! The fact is Canon manages revenue, profit and change every 6-months. Wait an see what 1/1/2025 brings!

At what point can Canon USA continue to have a wholly owned subsidiary, Canon Solutions America with overlapping objectives and merging print product lines, and still remain profitable. It's obvious that at some point there will be a unifying restructuring and Canon will in effect finally complete its M&A of Oce and the dealer networks that were purchased that make up Canon Solutions America. Yes, 10 years later for Canon Solutions America the M&A process will finally be realized and one unified US region will emerge. So yes, layoffs will be ever reaching, as Boca Raton and Melville realize one unified structure. While I don't have a view of the future, my gut feeling is that there will be no need for the Boca Raton center or the organization there of duplicate structure lines, like marketing, logistics, professional services and general midlevel management.
Let's make no mistake, this was one of the most talked about topics at the latest Drupa event in German amongst all the print industry media representatives and industry analysts. Which plays into why Canon would OEM its sheet feed inkjet platform to another print manufacturer in the same competitive sales space.
So, you can look at the recent layoffs as one and done, I believe it was the start of a much larger restructuring to unify sales channels and product responsibilities.

Might be the best thing to do. Looks like if you have been with the company for a long time and are anyone below a manager level. Then you could be on the chopping block. They seem to only want to keep people who don't have tenure.

Unless you know with certainty that more layoffs are on the horizon, respectfully suggest you cease with such panic talk. It's about as worthless as a fa-t.
