Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Canon Layoffs 2024

As an employee witnessing recent layoffs and hearing senior management’s directive to “do more with less,” I am appalled and deeply triggered. The arrogance, lack of empathy, and self-serving attitudes among our leadership is disgraceful.

Announcing layoffs via a mass meeting invite on a work-from-home day, without prior clarity or support, shows a blatant disregard for employee well-being. It’s particularly shocking given that they mandate two office days a week for “collaboration” but couldn’t even conduct this on one of those days.

It’s infuriating to anticipate senior management passing down increased workloads to lower staff while they benefit from high salaries.

This company’s claims of caring are a facade. Their unethical practices and hypocrisy must not go unchallenged. It’s time for true leadership to prioritize transparency, compassion, and fairness toward its employees.

I know for a FACT they did not make that $4 billion profit in 2023 a executive manager made that statement in April of this year he also said it’s possible pay cuts or layoffs told me not to mention it I didn’t think much of it at the time but now the way they just let us go we need to do something about this come together and get this investigated.

5 day in person work week will be horrible. No one wants or needs this. If this new guy wants to keep us happy then let me work from home full time I dont even interact with my coworkers IN the office! It's a horrible and depressing place to work

This world needs far less ego and much more empathy, especially in corporate environments. Many people in higher positions seem to believe they hold significant influence, but in reality, they’re just executing the company’s directives, which often lack emotional intelligence and care for employee well-being. It feels as though they think they own us simply because we work for them, but I see it as a fair exchange: they pay me and provide benefits, which they should, considering I dedicate my time and provide a service. I’m tired of the pervasive arrogance within organizations. This attitude must change now.
