Thread regarding Optum layoffs

mental health

i wish i could quit and not wait for the layoff, but unfortunately i can’t as i am sure all of us can’t. this position and my market manager is really destroying my mental health! when will it end , when one of the employees is no longer on this earth ? i cry everyday due to this position. i regret ever company on to this company. at this point i was declining in performance so i can get fired! i hate this. everyday is a struggle to wake up and log on to a computer. sincerely, a person who is hurting mentally and emotionally.

Please look out for yourself. The company sure isn't looking out for us. If you can find another job, leave this wretched place as soon as you can. Worst company I have ever worked for. I was really hoping all the negative things I was hearing about this company before I started working here weren't true. Sadly I now know it's much worse than described.

You are worth far more than your paycheck. Obviously, we all need money to survive, but you will be provided for and will find a way to get through any financially tough times. Later on down the road, what will you look back and regret? - Allowing this place to decimate your mental health for far too long or a short season of financial insecurity? It's ultimately up to you, but it is far more courageous to say "enough is enough" and walk away knowing your worth than to stay for a paycheck that probably isn't really as good as it should be and doesn't bring you joy and peace like the empowerment of self-preservation would be. I wish you all the best in your next career chapter when you decide to take that leap of faith!

Agree, be proactive and take control of your life. I used to panic thinking I'd be homeless. But now I'm actively seeking employment elsewhere. I'm willing to take a pay cut at this point because peace of mind is priceless! And honestly, that's the only benefit of working here is the pay is good. Everything else has been taken from us. Office furniture, providing internet service, bravo points, employee stock purchase down from 15% discount to 10%, quality equipment, ethical behavior. The only things that increased are expections, demands, and micromanagement.

You are going to let that company do that to you? Break you? Send you into the loony bin? Are you crazy? Do not allow that! Get control of yourself! Tonight, get off your phone and do your resume. Look for jobs. Apply to a bunch. Do this several times a week. Optum does not care one iota about you. GET CONTROL.

Same in IT(SS) world here, where we too bask in the glow of our all-knowing, omnipotent leaders. They're like tech-savvy toddlers with god complexes, really. Imagine a preschool playroom, but instead of crayons, they're waving around buzzwords they barely understand.

Just last week, our fearless leader insisted that "synergizing the blockchain with our cloud infrastructure" would solve all our problems. The condescension was palpable as they explained, in the tone you'd use to teach a puppy to sit, that we just need to "think outside the box." Brilliant, right?

And let's not forget their favorite pastime: micromanaging everything everyone does as if it were bo-b disposal. Watching them hover, you'd think we were finger painting with crayons instead of handling complex projects.

Yes, truly, the talented minds here are inspired daily by our leaders' unparalleled grasp of IT nuances, like how turning it off and on again is the pinnacle of troubleshooting. But hey, who needs morale or professional growth when you have such exemplary guidance?

I just met with some coworkers and their Director. What a distrusting control freak, and a demoralizing way to manage people. Talented people too. By the end of the day I felt I just left preschool. I feel bad for some of you.
