This is creating a hostile work environment. Is it legal can you really be fired for not getting credit apps?

Stop bi--hing and join a union already. It's not hard to do. Start the process and watch and laugh how much management freaks out. Guarantee you will see alot of Corp people. Tell them how you feel then by by management in your store. Seen it happen many times. After it's all done..join the union
Go to MyHR and read if it is in your job description, it is not in mine. Go check. I have never seen anyone written up over it, even though it is threatened.
We’ve been asking the same thing. As a cashiers it’s hard enough asking for credit at a self check out, but the customers do not want the up to 33% interest rate. Can’t tell you how many customers told me to f**k off when they read that amount. How that isn’t a hostile work environment, I don’t know.
Also how do they decide goals for different cashiers? I mean a full-time cashier will have many more chances to get credit cards than someone who works two nights a week. But everybody gets written up? Lowes should stop blaming cashiers and start looking at their business practices.
What you are describing is not legally a hostile work environment. Though getting credit cards can be very difficult, Lowe’s can terminate you for not meeting a performance expectation.
Get credit or get fired that’s my mo Jo
In the 9 years there I got exactly 1 credit card. I was there to help the customers with their problems, not create them.
In a little over 21 years with Lowe's, I "sold" exactly 3 credit cards.
Management did not bug me as my customers told them off.
