I've heard it's not going well, but managers will never reveal the truth to MH.

It's foreseeable that it's not going to go well. The quality is not going to be there.
From what I've heard, authors certainly don't "love" the CPI team, which is a lot more hands-off with authors than CMs. The transition isn't the huge success that is being broadcasted. At this point does anyone expect Cengage to admit when one of their ideas doesn't pan out perfectly?
In my area it's noticeable the product is already declining. I'm hearing "sinking ship" being used more and more. Everything is being outsourced and it shows: HR, customer service, development, QA, and content are the big ones, but there are plenty others. Talk to people in other departments and pull back the curtain. It's no big secret that where they cut out US employees and replaced them with cheaper alternatives, there are complaints and the work is frankly not as good.
C-Suite says we don't need to have the great quality we had before project horizon. We need to be more efficient, and our quality should just 'meet the customer's needs.' We're definitely on track to lower our quality...
In my sphere - it doesn't seem to be going well. Communication is slow and inadequate. Work is not being done to the level of detail as it was by the US-based employees who were let go. I've, personally, been nothing but frustrated.
“not sure what is going today since I never show up Fridays, you know the unspoken but understood weekly holiday but, I heard all is well”
Well then there is recovery Monday too! 3 day work weeks are pretty awesome.”
I not sure what is going today since I never show up Fridays, you know the unspoken but understood weekly holiday but, I heard all is well.
Authors love the CPI team? What rock are you living under? Ask the PPMs and ARMs how the authors feel about their projects being run by people who provide zero editorial support and have received zero training to be successful in their jobs. The authors are furious!
Moving jobs to India and laying off Americans. So anti American. So unpatriotic. Cengage should have financial penalties for doing this.
Full stop!
No one is doubting the ability of individuals in India to perform the job, however, replacing seasoned employees with new hires is more complicated than it may seem.
India has, what, a billion phds willing to work for $10 a day. Jesus you should have figured this out by now.
It depends on the project, like anything else. Not all CM jobs are created equal, despite what upper management would like you to believe. The transition hasn't been smooth for everyone. I'm certain those individuals are not being blatant about it because it would reflect poorly on them.
I heard AI is next because it’s free.
So far, I've seen no evidence of things not going well. It seems that the authors love the CPI team and they're getting better at their jobs. I'm part of the U.S. team and was very skeptical at first (especially since I liked working with my CM colleagues). However, the CPI team is getting better (unfortunately for U.S. employees).
