Thread regarding Optum layoffs

ahem*

Some of these snarky comments in response to actual legitimate concerns about job security are fairly telling to the amount of Kool-Aid that some of you have ingested from the Optum/UHG culture where the "mood elevator" tells you to get to "curious". Well, I'm curious how a 12-figure year over year corporation can even lay the amount of people off each year that it does, or how some Associate Directors can start in an entry level role less than 5 years ago - yet others are told they aren't supervisor material, meanwhile, the supervisor material they keep dangling in front of your very eyes have more honesty, integrity, compassion, company value "fluff" in their email signatures than they actually carry in their day-to-day.

Grow up and try to recognize and understand that nobody here really cares about you, your development or your CLL sorts. Okurrr?

All I can say is that I believe it. I had been with the company for 13 years and I delivered quality work every single day. I was never interested in becoming a supe or a team lead, never applied for such. My bosses, each one of them, were complete id--ts. No respect for them whatsoever so I bailed. I could not stomach one more day of being belittled by mo--ns.

More of the same sinking ship from the “talent” that was plucked from Target.

It’s a beautiful thing, really. Watching them navigate their roles with the finesse of a novice juggling chainsaws. Meetings about meetings, endless coffee breaks, and a knack for disappearing faster than a fast food combo meal when the time comes to deliver.

@1uvf+1tpqIrE1. You write as I and so many others feel. Our team leadership is home health and they came from McDonald's, Wendy's, and Taco Bell. Imma show this to my friend who is higher up and tell them to leave the workers but cut those 100k jobs who do nothing but have meetings and sneak out early. Some make more than 100k. I'm serious wasteful spending mr.big guy

The "new" Optum leadership Dream Team these days:

Carefully curated from the fine establishments of "Wendy’s, Target, Kroger, Home Depot, and Applebee's." Who needs formal training when you’ve got the vital experience of asking, “Would you like fries with that?” and mastering the art of the perfect store aisle shuffle? Truly, the best minds money can buy and the pinnacle of executive training.

Exactly. Always reassuring when leaders have no clue about clinical or operations. During meetings, they read directly from PowerPoint slides with numbers and use the word “synergy“ inaccurately. I suppose the numbers would be better if you had some inkling of what we’re supposed to be doing and the barriers that prevent us from doing it. I can’t tell if you realize you’re not working at Wendy’s or Target or Kroger or Home Depot or Applebees. My newest manager has absolutely no idea what my job is and admitted to it. Actually said “I’m not sure what you’re supposed to be doing and what we are supposed to be doing with you“. Then re-assured me that if I just focused on my metrics that would be best. Despite me explaining I cannot meet metrics due to severe inefficiency with another group of clinicians. So , I sure cannot “synergize” if my boss can’t “synergize” or my bosses boss all the way to the top boss in our region can’t “synergize”. How can I possibly do my job when the ignorance trickles down to the point you drown in it? I don’t. I give up.

Promotions are mostly inexperienced a-s kissers who are yes people. The good ones either are passed over or don't even bother applying because they have seen the past leaders get chosen only by a-s kissing and zero experience. It's pathetic with so many talented front line workers and worthless managers. Especially on the old navihealth home health side. My. Those managers are absolutely clueless on how to manage anyone

Spot on! I heard that promotions are based on performance 20%, image 30%, and exposure 50%. Which would explain exactly why the org has become so jacked up!!!
