So........... will anyone talk about this July 18th event?? We need more answers. This stress is not good. Why didn't everyone receive the email about this mtg that we all need to be home for? We're opening our clinics after this mtg. Why? Why do we have to be home? Why couldn't we all be in the clinics if we have to come in the afternoon anyway? Will we be laid off on that day? How have previous layoffs happened? I heard it's Texas and also Florida. Can they really shut all the clinics down just like that?

We had a 4 minute meeting at 930 to say we are safe my clinic but no details! Nothing about clinics that are closing or merging and that people are loosing their jobs. How can you not give us any other info!!!!
We were told that we will get an email with a teams link for our meeting time because they’re having several meetings since they can’t do it all at once because of the number of people. We were told we must be in the office at noon, supplying lunch and our phones will go back on at 1 PM, this is a Florida Optum clinic
If the layoffs are happening tomorrow morning, why would they have the patient appointments still in the afternoon?
Have a meeting with my supervisor at 4pm, I am a clinician. Could be unrelated, will update after 4pm.
Now optum Florida offices have a town hall meeting at 1pm too. Were told meeting 9-12 ET but then told must be at office at noon? I live 40 min away. They are giving us lunch but on the clock off the clock, do we clock in at 8 or 9? What could they possibly talk to us about for 2 to 3 hours?
Here is credible info. I’m high enough the food chain to be in the know but low enough to care about people. The email for the meeting on the 18th was botched. Everyone was supposed to get it but not everyone did. It was a technical glitch (yes really). The meeting is going to get canceled and your clinic/department will have their own meeting at a time they decide. Is there a layoff? Yes. Somewhere between 15-20% RIF, clinics will close and clinicians will even be let go. This will hit harder than last year. There is no WARN notice. There is no asking for volunteers. Nothing logical, compassionate or professional. It will be cut and dry. Backup all documents that are yours. Forward any emails you want to keep. Get all your personal stuff off your drive. Look on Sparq for any policies related to RIFs. Last time people were shortchanged. Update your resume. If you are spared, I suggest looking for something else. I have heard through the grapevine (read a rumor) that another one will happen in early 2025. Isn’t one of the core values integrity? Hmmmm.
Here is something to chew on…… the “leaders” absolutely read this board because some have said very angrily “stop reading those message boards” lmao…. Anyway— they know the panic and stress and worry happening, don’t you think they would address it to quell the fears of nothing was going to happen?? The mere fact that “leadership” is staying so silent while the rumors fly and street levels shoot through the roof are a major red flag that there is something coming!!! Food for thought. :)
Are all clinics in southeast region only closed half a day on the 18th? I just can't fathom the need of this meeting needing to be done at home when we are seeing patients in the afternoon.

you completely missed the point of my comment. never said anyone was safe for this reason i was clearly saying the opposite. i was saying the fact they have patients is why they were given notice about their meeting opposed to the usual 24hr last minute meeting invite. they don’t care about anyone they’re just making sure the patients apts get cancelled in time so they can ruin people’s lives that morning laying them off.

Previous RIFs involved RNs (massive) even Drs, etc. I have been here too long feeling like an “historian” telling RIF like WWI, WWII.. on and on…
I left the company voluntarily in May, but I was hearing very credible rumors (from director-level sources with deep connections and loose lips) about these July layoffs all the way back in March or so. I’m very sorry to all of you who are impacted. Sociopaths running that show for sure. I can tell you from the other side that it’s a relief to be out. I’ve never really been a fan of management by terrorism. Take care all.

these people work in person with actual patients…. it’s completely different than the usual MO of optum laying off WFH employees where they can just schedule a meeting on the fly and not have to worry about patients and appointments. everything these people are describing about 7/18 sounds completely like a lay off meeting.
Really just 3000 people getting the boot just like this? On 4/18/24 over 20,000 employees were RIF’d in one day. 3000 people seems like a small amount compared to the last round. Don’t hold onto that thought as rationale to feel safe. Holds no water. Now think of this…. Why in the he-l would Optum put a 2 day hold on your calendar to lay you off? Their normal MO is to drop 15 min blocks of time the morning of. This sounds like just a big training going to be happening. Relax…. This doesn’t fit the normal Optum pattern of a lay off. But what do I know…… just my opinion lol
How can they just fire everyone? If anyone thinking about these patients? If you shut the offices for a half day, they can come in the afternoon. But to shut down for two days? That's just crazy. And if we get laid off will they help with finding new positions within UHC? I can't imagine over 3000 people getting the boot just like that
Not everyone at my clinic received the invite. Per my RM, corp is still working on sending out the invites. This is ridiculous! Just let me know so I can move on already. I don't plan on being there much longer. Optum Orlando had the WORST leadership!
If it is a layoff meeting that's my whole entire clinic providers, manager, clinic administration and regional directors good god, actually looking at the ppl in the meeting that's the whole entire southeast region
i’m sorry but that 100% sounds like a lay off meeting. the people who didn’t get the meeting invite aren’t on the chopping block and the ppl who did unfortunately are.
They handle layoffs in the coldest and least compassionate way you can imagine, so brace yourselves if you’re impacted. You’ll get no more than a last work date, your job has been eliminated.
Asking for more information will get you nowhere and asking ahead of time will also get you no information more than likely. Most managers, even if they know are instructed to not disclose anything.
