Fatality in Chicago

Rip and condolences to their family. New hire that hired on only in February. That being said, have to wonder in addition to what sounds like may have been some poor manager decisions, if this would have been avoided had we the manpower and time to properly train individuals before theyre turned out on their own. From what I hear work in the area loading anfunloading freight been getting contracted out elsewhere.

People should not be dying when only working for 5 months. At 5 months, he should be in training not working alone. With all these rules and still people are dying. Pathetic! His boses are responsible for this fatality. Think about the family that lost a son. Heartbroken!

Prayers and thoughts to the family, friends, and coworkers. So sad to hear..especially for such young employee. Hopefully the truth comes out on this to what really happened to avoid similar incidents in the future.

Just a thought but let's give the family the time to grieve the loss of their loved one. No one on here knows what happened yet. The only thing we do know is that the gentleman that died was only 27 years old, and he was only with the company for a little less than 5 months. Could it have been a managers decision that led up to the fatality? Maybe. Could it have been the engineers decision that led up to the fatality? Again maybe. What I do know is that you have thousands of employees afraid to even move out of morbid fear of the management. If you get hurt, THOSE MANAGERS WILL NOT BE ON YOUR SIDE! They will not protect you at all, even though you did what they told you to do. Do the job you were hired and trained to do. I'm waiting for the full story to come out before the rest of us can comb through the BS that the company's findings will almost certainly have. Either way this fatality in no way looks good for the UP. In the last year, the UP has already had a couple of fatalities. The UP might have some explaining to do real soon, so just be patient.

The odd thing about this incident is, everyone working in cubicles will get a notice about UP’s safety standards.
