Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Landmark Layoff Coming Soon

Date will be 7/11 or 7/25 (non-payroll week)

They will likely eliminate the SW mgr roles. Outreach and SW/BH teams will either be eliminated or downsized. I have good word that LM offices will be eventually phased out to merge with United offices; it’s too much overhead. Service areas will be more condensed which is good for providers. Non-dense service areas will be shut down.

Expect a wind down of all non-UHC/Optum clients, though timeline TBD due to contracts. Engagement continues with UHC for this reason.

Expect a complete model change. Nurses complaining about ratios (rightfully so) but this won’t matter if they get rid of C/D patients… you see?

Have your resume updated and apply to jobs. Market is tough right now but you can always say no if offer not good.

This went from being best company of my life to the worst. Morale so low.

National BH Leaders will likely be RIF’d the same time as SWMs.

Landmark was designed to be a start up to then be sold.
It’s my understanding that upper SW leadership have been cut out of planning meetings. That might be why it seems they have disconnected. I don’t know how much they could do to try and be connected/supportive.

You had management manipulating numbers. Providers and NCM designated acuity level subjectively and “leaders” were fine with this. It camouflaged the reality that operations was inept and clinicians had no idea what they were supposed to be doing. Look back at some of the ncm and provider notes. What a joke. They couldn’t do basic medication reconciliation. The “doctors” seemed to fail to understand this is home based and not all about them. Its no surprise that LM couldn’t sustain itself and c-suite sold us to the highest bidder. Way too many healthcare providers with pricey salaries less effective than a home healthcare nurse. What a huge waste of money. Just because you’re a nurse or doc/np/pa doesn’t mean you know how to manage. Just because you’re a manager doesn’t mean you know healthcare. LM was a marriage of the two. Its really sad/hilarious to see some people still working themselves into the ground. We are no longer seen as people. Just numbers to manipulate.

@OP…is this information from a credible source or is it just more conjecture? Or the SWMs and Outreach the only roles impacted by the upcoming RIF?

It’s scary how much optum is shrinking its external business clients

I am confused by continuing to enroll C/Ds and then “graduating” them to whatever other United thing.
