Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Families

Just a number when we were told we are family. We aren’t family. Our kids and spouses are family. That’s the family we come home to. Not the “number” we are to VPs, CEOs, and guys like John Lederer. My kid asked me “why are you at home all the time now”. I didn’t say because our owners care more about EBITA than your insurance to pay for sick treatments. That’s you John. That’s you bosses. Projections over results. God is watching and I feel sorry for you. I pity you. Each of you. EBITA looks really good cutting people. I hope this website doesn’t delete this post. My family, my little girl is owed one he-l of an apology.

Canada hourly associates were given 6 months severance after November 2023 layoffs while US gets 11 weeks? Really?

Staples doesn't know it yet but the other post was correct. Losing a large customer. After being let go I now have a new position. Working with my new employer for a new supplier. Since SP owns Quill, Essadent as well, we won't be bidding with them either. It is obvious they confirmed their employees are worthless.

You don’t know it yet, but they did you a favor.

This is hysterical. You should have hiring managers lead with the Staples ideology of “we don’t care about you” so new people know there’s no point in “making one more call”, arriving early, staying late, or doing a little extra for the client. If only I had known how little the SLT cares, I would have cared less about making Staples profitable and more about jumping ship to a place with actual leadership. Staples is rotting, and it starts at the head. Anyone who stays is infected with their dying funk. Get out while you can. Life is better when you are working for an organization with a future. Or stay and work another job while pretending to do this one. Why should you care more than the SLT?

One thing last post got right- it is a circus and the circus should have left town a long time ago. The only clowns are the clowns that are running the show. And everyone at the mercy of The Ringmaster JL and his cronies.

Why bother keep commenting. All it does is encourage this clown.

SLT does not want customers to know how bad things are and how bad they are. Keep the comments coming. Truth is tough for them to swallow

It's not employees' fault the company is failing. Typical Staples way. Stop gaslighting. People have right to vent, be upset. Instead of disrespecting others why not fix the Staples issues of bad decisions and changing market. Sheesh... Go have a steak and think about how to become a better human.

Look at all of these complainers! Get laid off and come chirping that it’s the companies loss LOL. You’re all gone for a reason. If you didn’t like it then you should have left sooner. This is called life. Move on. Zero value brought to the organization or the role failed. Deal with it.

Agreeing about bullying. It shows how toxic Staples is to work for. They treat employees bad so they want to quit voluntarily. Saves them money on severance and unemployment then. All employees are spokes people and customers. Acting like that exemplifies how employees will not do business as they replace buyers etc at other companies.

The company didn't su-k until JL/Sycamore took over. He truly brings no value. If he were so good, Staples would be doing much better. Pitty party... LMAO. Don't let the comments of this a$$hat bring you down. Prayers for everyone and finding a better life after this sh!#show of a company it's become.

Maybe if they stopped hiring so many execs etc, there would be more for employees. At some point the company will only have higher ups that don't know what they are doing. We've seen the same "new ideas " over and over. Tenured employees are a great resource. We've seen what works, what doesn't etc. It's sickening when CEOs VPs etc have 6 month severance packages. Those lower on the company food chain get maybe 11 for hourly and 16 for salary. It's understood it's a business but what happened to giving non salaried employees bonuses when profits are good. This company su-ked the joy of going in to work. Walking around the office, the dynamics have changed. Most employees look miserable. Those with tenure are only staying in order to just get closer to retirement and collect their severance. Glad I'm one of the lucky ones during the last mass layoff Nov 2023. Continually gave ideas to improve the company. No one listened. It wasn't until the walking papers arrived when the execs actually wanted to hear my ideas. Too little too late. I no longer am vested in their success. Therfore I don't care if they fail.

Agree, businesses should care about their people and their people families. Good people create great businesses and give their heart and soul to drive results. When you disrespect that all you can do is continue to cut until you can cut no more. Will be left with nothing and you tore down a great company with great people who did great things. The leadership at this company has been a joke since SP bought the company and the only strategy has been to cut legacy tenured associates to pad the bottom line and recycle strategies that have been part of every new plan. Deplorable

Constant whining here! It’s a business nobody cares about you or your family. If you are too naive to believe that, then you are the problem. Move on, there are a ton of jobs out there. Maybe next time step out of your fairy tale bubble. When results are sh---y it means layoffs. Wake up and do better.
