Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

Nothing but a bunch of crying babies

I have never read so much sniveling and crying in my life from the X-Pioneer's hands that are either going, staying or leaving. I hope that your resume looks better than the stuff that I am reading here. For those of you married and family you really don't have a choice, su-k it up and show Exxon what you can do.

The comp at PXD is phenomenal....and you won't find it anywhere else in DFW. If you want to stay here, prepare for a large pay decrease. You MIGHT be able to find the salary...but the bonus and stock....no way. Kiss all that money good bye. Manage your investments well and get as good a return as you can. With PXD and Denbury both gone now, it's a different ballgame in Dallas.

Did you not read OP's post? They were packaged out in 2019. It makes the "complaining about complainers" part even more sad. OP is telling current employees to move on when OP still posts here after being gone for years and years.

I don’t get this vibe at LCO so maybe it’s just OPs team. The irony here is that OP is complaining about complainers. From the tone it seems likely that OP doesn’t have any kids 8-16 age, and may not own his/her own house either. If you’re in the group with kids and house, or if you just really love your home and community I think it’s ok to express dissatisfaction about having to sell up and move your family from their friends and community to maintain employment in your chosen profession. That’s normal, but sure you don’t want to whine all day about it. Everyone’s situation is different, nonetheless, whatever your situation is maintaining a positive outlook is always the best way forward.

Pioneer management definitely had their favorites and those chosen ones had career advancement, some didn't have the street smarts to get out of a wet paper bag. And there were some that were really talented and were great managers. But I don't know if these will go to Exxon or will they enter the job market. Pioneer could put the golden handcuffs on you that you could not leave just based on pay alone. I worked with a Managment Selected Fast Tracker (MSFT) later in my career and he was a volunteer fireman and honor Midland County sheriff, and he always had a badge clipped to his wallet. In meetings he would put it out on the table, he took credit for other people's work, he back stabbed, and he sat in meetings and did nothing except to stir the pot and cause distrust. I never figured out how he survived or who his Pioneer DADDY was, but one day he was gone. He was pure poison to work around, and he ruined careers of those around him

Hired on 5 years ago, been with 4 other operators. I've never experienced so many entitlements until I started at MCO, until I went LCO. It's like an adult day care.

After the merger I got to see everyone act like little babies about nothing.

I like reading the comments on here and then try to figure out who wrote them by what people say at work. It's a fun game, you should try it.

The ones that did nothing were there 25 years plus! You know legacy employees! Not sure how many are left there but I am sure those years mean nothing now!

It's almost as pathetic as a nobody who hasn't worked at Pioneer for the better part of a decade coming here to whine about things. You've had all this time and you haven't pulled yourself up by your bootstraps yet?

I agree. I sense many that are whining and complaining are those that are here 10 years or less. They been so used to getting extra bonuses and doing little extra work so now gotten used to being rewarded for little effort and now expect hand outs. Good luck finding a company that pays your insurance premiums with amazing benefits, free lunch, extraordinary annual bonuses, flexible wfh, paid bonus for covid shots, bonuses for anniversaries, Well Done awards, half priced ski trips in great locations, just to name a few.

Exxon is paying good money for the potential of your effort. And those of you who didn't get the uplift that you had hoped for, well maybe you didn't really deserve the high pay that Pioneer has been paying you. It's no longer about who you know but what you know in actual applied skills.
