Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Are PIPs survivable?

I haven't been put on a PIP yet but I wouldn't be surprised if that happens considering that my manager has it out for me. My question is, if that happens, is there any point in staying and trying to "improve" or is the best course of action to quit while ahead?

Rarely and it is an easy way for them to target you come lay-off time.

Whether earned or not, it's a vote of no confidence in which no level of su-king up will fix. Your manager has other motives such as fear of your abilities, having another in mind for your position, cost saves et al. Better to leave and quickly on your own terms. Good luck.

if they put on pip, its better to start looking elsewhere. imo, those days of pips are over. now they just give 30 days notice of separation.

I agree with both comments but if you decide to stick around and you’re put on a PIP, document EVERYTHING you do, every task you’re assigned, provide written status updates, email when you’re done, ask questions via email, etc. Keep your messages very polite, brief and professional. Keep a journal as well of what your manager says/does during this time, and how you responded. I can’t stress enough how important it is for you to document everything so your mgr can’t use anything against you. Good luck!

Agree with this response, look for another employer now while your employed. Obtain new job and move on before you are laid off. If you are a long term employee weigh out the potential for a Sev payout. But no guarantees on what a Sev payout would ever be. Take care of yourself First..

I know someone who was put on pip and came out of it and survived for another 2 years before being laid off. I also know a lot of people who did not and was let go immediately. If I where you I would start looking for another job asap instead of focusing on coming out of pip.
