Hiring freeze?

Anyone know if there’s officially a hiring freeze in effect? If there is, why are new jobs still being posted/old jobs still being reposted on the company website?

"The hiring freeze is only for newly created positions. They will always need to fill positions when someone leaves the company". No jobs are in the United States they are only for out of the US. Layoffs are coming to be replaced with people outside the US like you don't know this? Next probably looking for some sweet deal for free Prison Labor because He-l why pay them at all when you can pay 1 person $50,000 one time to do it.

Many companies post ghost jobs. There is a twofold reason for this. First it makes the company look healthy to stockholders as they are still hiring. Secondly, it allows them to maintain a pool of individuals resumes when needed.

CVS is one of many companies that posts job postings it has zero interest in filling.

They do this for basically free “fair market value” on our labor. Basically if they get zero interest in a role advertised at $50k and current employee makes 50k, then they will try to keep that underpaid employee. If they get people coming out of the woodwork who would take 50k for that role and have a good set of candidates and the current person makes 75k then it’s easy to let them go when they look to leave.

In regards to any hiring freeze, my manager put in his notice on 4/1 that 5/15 would be his last day. As of 7/3, his job was never posted (I check almost daily) and when I asked last week about his position being filled it was just “it takes time, maybe not until at least September”

That reeks hiring freeze to me especially when it’s not like they are trying to fill a director level or above role (and since Sean Guertin’s replacement was promoted in less time than that and he was the CFO not a lowly manager)
