Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

New reqs - layoffs cancelled

I saw a bunch of new reqs open today for tech support, this wouldn't happen if there was a layoff coming

Looking at some of the reqs in some areas it looks like jobs are moving to cheaper countries.

Tell me you don't know how layoffs work, without telling me you don't know how layoffs work.

In other words, just because they are hiring, doesn't mean they aren't going to lay off. They could lay off under performers or highly compensated members, reduce managment overhead, all while bringing in new, lower paid employees.

Believe what you want. The Layoffs are coming and will start in Mid July for countries that have a 2 month notice requirement, and August and September for the rest of us.

My Manager has already told me that I am on the list. And I couldn't be happier.

There will be no layoffs, Dell will be content making $0 profit on servers competing against super micro.

No PC growth, no profit, lots of hardware flying out the door at cost. Dell is too benevolent and will keep everyone on payroll because we are all family

Dell is working on AI for Customer Service. We will see how successful it will be.

As for the reqs, what country are they hiring these positions from?

Perhaps not in Tech support. Definitely coming in Professional Services. Already losing some.
