I agree. All of the parties responsible for the destruction of CDK deserve to lose everything. I think it’s too late for Elliot Management and the other corporate raiders who ushered in McDonald’s first reign of te---r as they already cashed out. But I’m never sad to see a PE firm get its comeuppance and hopefully this ends Brian’s career.
Brian “Straight Talk” McDonald strikes again
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay", says the Lord
It isn't only that.
I worked for CDK for over 10 years, when it was still ADP. CDK formed, and we all were happy to not be ignored anymore. But then, in comes Brian MacDonald, fresh from being fired from Hertz. He was the worst thing that could have happened to the new company, but it took time to realize it.
I loved the people I worked with, and we worked together for years. The company was profitable with huge margins, and we dominated the industry. Then Brian shows up, and in 2017-2018, he starts hacking at the golden goose to get more gold out of it. He angered both employee and customer alike. The board brings in Brian K to patch things up before AutoNation and other big clients went to R&R or Cox, and we all breathed a big sigh of relief.
Then Brian M comes back(!), brings in a bunch of yes-men cronies, and immediately puts his incompetence back to work with layoffs and outsourcing, right in the middle of the cr-ppiest covid-soaked job market in years.
This cybersecurity incident is just a symptom of what Brian MacDonald's incompetence has wrought.
Looking back, I'm glad I left when I did. I am sad for all the friends I saw get kicked out on their can after decades of flawless service, but in retrospect, at least we don't have the stain of this incident on our resumes.
