Walgreens will close a ‘significant’ number of its 8,600 US locations

Let it all begin, and it's just the beginning. Remember Sears?

I love it :) saw WBA stock and felt happy that I cashed out at $35 and then got fired by them, and got to enjoy a two-month paid vacation and then a fat severance check :)

In a much happier place now, working for a firm where my work has meaning.

Enjoy the ride Amigos - I hope when y'all get laid off the company has the money to pay you something.

Who needs a neighborhood dr-g dealer on every street corner. Let's face it, the business model is a overpriced convenience store with the dr-g dealer in back raking in 75% of the revenue. Wasn't the grand plan to centralize the pill fill operation and mail out meds?

It is all about greed. The US government can no longer subsidize prescription costs. The "party" will end soon. Next up..CVS Health

Boards of directors play an integral role in driving a company's success. Walgreens Boots Alliance's board of directors acts as the decision-making body for the company, listening to concerns, evaluating opportunities, and making strategic decisions to ensure the success of the company. It's also their responsibility to oversee Walgreens Boots Alliance's management team and ensure that the company complies with applicable laws and regulations, as well as ethical business practices.

THEY ALL SHOULD RESIGN OR GET RID OF THEM ALL NOW. THESE BOARD OF DIRECTOR'S have no clue in what they are doing. It's about results, NOT EXCUSES for them to give. They don't X the box for one thing that their job is to do.

Sounds like it could be a lot more store closings this time around. Per today's CNBC article, 75% of the stores drive 100% of Walgreen's profitability. With over 8000 stores, that would make for over 2000 non-performing stores.

This place is a dumpster fire. Stefano just does not know how to run a business and he blew it. The Board blew it with all of its BS diversity - when you put people in positions bc of the color of their skin and not their experience you will FAIL. The clowns who have been brought in over the last few years are a joke. Politics and moving people into jobs they were never qualified for has destroyed this company.

Walgreens has been closing a few hundred stores per year already. This is nothing new. CVS is also closing 300 per year. They’re still doing better than WAG but Walgreens is not the only pharmacy chain closing a “significant” number of stores.
