Thread regarding Optum layoffs

July layoffs nurses beware

With the mass layoffs rolling this year the divisions keep expanding the nurse caseloads of RNs.

Anticipate a good number of nurses to be reassigned and others to be laid off.

Navi health - expect lots of nurse and case manager changes.

Landmark/HBC will again take hits of seniority employees pushed in most likely while they push out others- good news Wanda Bryant their director tries.

Coders — bye bye

Clinic based nurses - sorry

Home and Community: nurse caseloads keep growing and IESNP is failing due to Kim Pratt and Sue Miller, New Jersey is fighting the hardest to keep those 2 out of leading any more employees.

ISNP — nurse roles keep expanding caseload size with shrinking patients. Some VPs don’t seem to drive much like Terry Wilhelm.

Pharmacy again in trouble no suprise,

Home infusions lost most its key leaders.

Optum CA just lost its VP to a major competitor

Its probably nurses who just manage the phone. Totally overqualified for the position. Not patient facing and providing basic healthcare edu you can get on a fact sheet. .

Optum CA President went to a direct competitor in post acute care.

The whole Home and Community is under layoffs again.

IESNP will likely be hit hardest - all I ever hear is horror stories about their DCO and VP, basically bumbling id--ts changing course almost weekly.

ISNP - heard the business side will take more consolidation - heading to 2 Clinical VP? They’ll probably pick up IESNP.

Post acute services continue to shrink

SW managers met with chaplains last week and they are pretty sure they are being laid off, so I’m not sure if the chaplain meeting has any value to who is being laid off. Apparently the chaplains will be meeting with all Landmark staff at some point due to moral and all the lay offs. Seems these meetings should have been set up in April.

Interesting that in HCHB we have chaplain meetings set up for the CC and NCM team the week of July 18th. Does this mean their jobs are safe but others are not and this is their plan to help regain these team members amidst the RIFs?

This company employs numerous nurse coders in many different areas. Do you have any additional information on the specific nurse coders you have included in your list?

Doctor's are not excluded from potential layoffs. Back in April 2024, 50-75% physicians were included in the layoffs. So no job security for anyone. Having a 3 year physician contract does not mean another. If a physician is let go, the only benefit is that they won't have to return the signing bonus.

Do doctors get laid off as well given our contracts and the contract payouts?

For “navihealth CM changes”, can you elaborate, any more details on this? Any confirmed upcoming layoffs of coordinators, CTMs, for July?

Do yourself a favor and stop thinking or worrying about it. The reality is nothing will change regardless of what you do. The good news is that you have some time- and I would take this time to get your resume polished and start getting out there. Best case you land a job quickly, or worst case you find a better job and they done RIF you but you leave for a better opportunity anyway! Either way you will be okay! I was RIF’ed in April and just landed my next role. Had a little paid time off and landed on my feet. You will also :)

so, I work at an Optum clinic and I’m anxiously awaiting this wonderful meeting on July 18. I have a clinical nurse role and all this information is given me straight up anxiety. Is this from reliable sources or is this conjecture?

“Navi health - expect lots of nurse and case manager changes”

Do you know actual specifics? What about PT/OT/ST? People that don’t have any experience working in nH, don’t seem to have an understanding of our roles and what we do and what our backgrounds are. Just trying to get any info possible!

"all fabricated-look at the strength of the market - you are a bad person - you are unemployable."

Typical Optum Leadership response - mentality of a child.
