To understand who controls companies, you need to understand who controls the US.
The US has never had a true Democracy. The US and its original Constitution were based on a Republic governance system that provided old, rich, white men full control, power and wealth which they envisioned would never change. Low wealth white men, minorities and woman didn't have nearly the same rights or freedoms.
Over time the US population tried to move to a more true Democracy by creating laws that enabled Unions to be formed to give lower wealth workers more opportunities and a safer work environment, give minorities freedom from slavery and more opportunities, and give women the right to vote and have reproductive freedom of choice. This occurred because the overwhelming majority of US population believes this to be best for overall population welfare and for US security in a dangerous world.
However, when Obama got elected to the White House, this angered the old, rich, white men so much so that they decided they would rather destroy everything instead of allowing this transformation to continue occurring, adhering to the rule of law or even exhibiting any common decency in order to force a return to "their" great days of having full control, power and wealth above everyone else.
So glad I left Boeing and US for New Zealand. Good luck ex-Boeing teammates and ex-US citizens!
I still don't understand why we need MBAs. Most of these MBAs couldn't start or run their own business.
