Stock went up because covid was a boon (vaccines, Aetna not needing to pay for elective surgeries). That ended, management flushed the extra cash down the drain overpaying for oak street & signify. Aetna wildly underestimated post-covid expenses causing us to miss Q1 earnings and lower rest of year estimates. To make matters worse, 3 weeks before Q1 ended leadership told Wall Street they weren’t changing earnings estimates, so now nobody trusts them.

128 to the 50s due to failure to execute and unwise acquisitions. Some recovery recently into the 60s perhaps due to media coverage PR blitz and some hopioum. Recent drop back into the 50s likely just a temporary response to Walgreens announcement re closing stores. Note there is a substantial number of CVS retail locations for sale by owners that lease the locations to CVS, which I interpret as being perceived as extremely high risk regardless of guarantees built into those leases. Not a good place for your portfolio right now. Look instead at the tech they buy to support the business.

Walgreens posted. Very poor results for the quarter today I’m at it’s causing a drag on CVS. Walgreens announced that they are closing a number of stores.
