I heard rumblings of some scandalous information last week that was so outrageous I thought there’s no way this is true.
Now I’m not so sure. I have a very good friend that works at EgonZhender and his network is buzzing with this rumor. He said it doesn’t affect his firm as they only work with C-Suite positions. He knows a lot of people working in the recruiter space and thinks there’s some merit to what’s quickly running through that world.
I was just going to shut up and not say anything, but so many of my friends are Director level and up and they can’t land a job that I want to see if anyone else has heard anything remotely like this.
So here goes: allegedly, LinkedIn is weeding out any submitted applications and resumes that dates people, mostly in their 50’s, and not letting them through. Anyone with over 20 years experience is getting filtered out.
I keep telling myself this is ridiculous - no way this is happening. But, something doesn’t sit right with me, and could it really be happening? We all know ageism is running rampant, but why would LinkedIn/Microsoft risk their reputation? There are so many people in this grouping that haven’t found work, could this be why?
