Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Morale tanked

These past months have been a horror show, and there is no end in sight. Most of my colleagues and I have just been worrying about who’s next on the chopping block, and nobody has any motivation left. I guess it would be foolish to put in an effort for a company that’s been treating all of us so badly for quite a while now, and in which the vast majority of us have no future whatsoever. However, all of the above makes working here a very depressing and exhausting experience.

"lol @ you thinking the managers have any say in who gets laid off. They’re in the same position as you, possibly worse cause they have to lay people off before their own inevitable canning. You’re mad at the wrong people"

My 'manager' has had it out for me since day one so speak for yourself. :)
Been told my job and hours weren't 'needed' before they even stepped in the role.

LMAO
Karthick is big mad at this one.
Don't you have more lives to ruin including your own?
Go touch some grass for your own sake.

Unless your name is DavidK, the six month severance employees will not find a job that pays anywhere near what they are making after 26 years of raises and such. No Respect Nielsen CEO Karth will hopefully use his bonus to get a haircut and maybe some fillers to improve his opportunities with his current staff.

I thought it was great that they just sent out a generic doc called "leaving Nielsen".

Here's all the reasons you could be leaving Nielsen, we don't even have the common decency to narrow it down for you, so here's potential reasons you could be leaving us today:
Fired
Laid off
Left on own accord
Temporary Leave

Like what in the actual fu-k?

"I am one of the "poor excuse of a manager"s. This is gut-wrenching for me and I hate what's happening. I could refuse to do it, but that probably would just make it even more awkward for my employees that are getting laid off."

As a MANAGER you should have no issue finding better work elsewhere, no?

For the people getting FIRED today, no warning, no prep, nothing. They aren't going to have that luxury. They're jobless now. Let that sink in.

I hear that they have destroyed the Streaming Meter team already by making the wrong decisions. None of the original people on that team (which I loved working with) is left and the entire team have been offshored (including the manager) to a cheaper country.

Just leave, there's no place for growth here. Nielsen is not what it used to be.

Start looking for work NOW. The severance isn't that much and the job market is terrible. You must start looking NOW. The only people I can see hanging on, are the ones that will get six months severance. But even then, it took me eight months to find a decent paying job, so is the risk worth it? Just go, it's over unless you're in a GCC location.

Found out when my last day is and it's a relief to finally know where things stand. Employment is transactional at the end of the day. Now I can wrap things up at Nielsen, receive my severance, and move on. Or just leave if the right opportunity comes along.

The company is being wrecked but that's not my problem anymore.

My coworkers have all checked out and I hate working with them now. I don’t have it in me to come in and do nothing like they do. I like to work. I think it’s best at this point that I just find another job.

I get it, OP. My department used to be a motivated, well functioning team because we liked our work and we all generally got along as coworkers.

Now? Those of that are left after offshoring and layoffs have zero motivation and zero drive to put in effort. What's the point? Nielsen doesn't care about anything at this point but the cheapest labor possible for the barest minimum of quality.

Whole team got the meeting invites today with just the manager. HR 'magically' shows up after a short "hi" from the poor excuse of a manager and they're letting people go that way. Some are getting certain last day dates, others are being let go today. Wonder how they're spinning that wheel.

You need to leave, the US is lost and leaving is the best thing you can do for your future self.

They sold the company to Slovenia, India, Mexico, etc. The debt they have could be insurmountable at this point and instead of bringing value to the equation they choose to cut costs and give away years of experience to cheap half-backed managers abroad than now feel like god and can't stop the damage.

Just leave and don't look back, your future self will thank you!
