Hundreds of employees could be laid off by Walmart in weeks as the retailer closes more stores.
A total of 528 employees will be impacted by store closures in Colorado and Georgia, according to "notice of facility closure" letters distributed in both states.
This includes 295 employees in Dunwoody, Georgia; 92 employees in Marietta, Georgia; and 141 employees in Aurora, Colorado.
Walmart said that its entire facility in Dunwoody, located at 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Road, will close to the public on July 12 and that its associates had been informed of the decision on June 13.
The retailer added that its entire store in Marietta, located at 3101 Roswell Road, will also close on July 12 and that its associates had been informed of the closure on June 13.
Meanwhile, the company said that its entire store in Aurora, located at 10400 E Colfax Avenue, closed on June 7 and that its employees had been informed on May 10.
Walmart added that all affected employees will be able to search for other roles within the company during a paid job search period. Employees from the Marietta and Dunwoody stores who do not secure jobs during this time will "separate employment effective September 20, 2024," and those from the Aurora store will cease employment on August 9.
