Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Chevron Poaching

Chevron's new plant in south east texas has been poaching a lot of people from Beaumont Exxons.

It's insulting the raise they are offering. No bonus. I'm thinking of leaving. Atleast they treat their employees with respect

CP Chem has a 401k match on just base pay not total, pension is averaged across your career vs XOM’s being highest 3 years, and CP’s retirement insurance is 3x the price of XOM’s. You may make higher wage wise for CP but over 20 years you’re losing a lot of money unless you invest every bonus dollar you ever get. All big companies are soulless and will sc--w you in some way but you have to try to use your job to get the most out of it you can and retire the earliest. I wouldn’t make a move just make more an hour only to retire 5 years later.

Somebody compile a list of arrogant A$$holes, oops, I mean HiPos, and give to Chevron recruiters.

EM hires executives from outside now so we do not need those HiPos any more.

I wish Exxon would give me a reason to stay. I want to work for a company that doesn't treat me like a step-child, feeding me scraps in a cage.

Let EM and Chevron poach from each other and drive the market salary upward.

Base salary increase will just accelerate moving all engineering to India.

Increased salary rates at sites will just increase the number of Indian Impats to work at the sites.

It is shocking how many foreigners are working at our refineries.

The future is wind, solar, and electric vehicles.

Oil companies will fade away in a few years.

Do not jump to another sinking ship.

Go electric.

Just kidding. Wind, solar, and EVs all depend on oil and gas.

I was poached from another company. Sure the initial offer was good, but insane hours and unrealistic expectations from those who never did real work. The raises, training, opportunities, and respect decline overtime.

They are the same cr-p, but at least Chevron has the decency to tell us that they are going to lay off any of us instead to use the Bullcr-p NSI or PIP.

I worked at Chevron. It's not really any better. There are some bonuses available, but you also get the pleasure of having to reapply for your job every year.

  1. I haven’t heard anybody Exxon leadership crying that we can’t keep anybody around in fact it’s part of the plan so they’re happy about it.
  2. if you think going to Chevron is gonna be an upgrade you maybe be surprise. that would be like going from Coke to Pepsi. Smells a little different but it’s the same cr-p.

Too bad Exxon's bonus wasn't merging with Chevron.... like the covid talks.

Rumor in Beaumont-area was a generous bonus and nice raise. Well, I'm not surprised Exxon led us on....again.

3% raise with no bonus? Goes to show how competitive we are.

Exxon cries how they can't keep anyone around. Wonder why.
