Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Any actual layoffs on your teams yet

Is it just waiting until the end of the year for that big simplification or have people been axed on your teams already

They sacked almost all contractors in the UK and EU, axed many projects, didn't look at performance, and left incompetent people who didn't even get through interviews in the first place, only because they are cheap. Of course, I am one of those fired guys.

BP digital hired talents from American tech companies. Will digital be impacted?

From what I understand they are looking to handle the reserves team at Bpx Energy in house at BP and dissolve that team. They are also looking at redundancy in HR, IT, and managers at Bpx Energy. The new guy's philosophy is hard on cost cutting. There is supposed to be another announcement soon if they decide to go forward with it.

I believe Subsurface Team is going to stay in place after all since they specialize in unconventional reservoirs. ELT at Bpx becomes like team supervisors. Major whacks at middle management are expected. CEO becomes a Vp.

Layoffs expected in Q3 based on the meetings I've attended.

Mainly at Bpx

They wouldn’t have announced it now if they’re waiting until next March

Maybe they are just waiting for march 25 when people get their reinvent shares and a banking on a load leaving then so they don’t have to pay redundancy?

No layoffs in my team yet. I have heard of some people who left and the company has not posted the roles yet. Maybe they’re focusing on attrition until they can pull together a plan.
