Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Layoff confirmed. Any suggestions on volunteering

I have multiple sources that can confirm the layoffs, and names are currently being compiled. I'm not sure if I'll be on the list, but I’m considering volunteering. How can I ensure that my next employer understands I volunteered and wasn't passively impacted? Do you have any suggestions on how to approach this with my boss, and do you think they would be open to accepting my volunteering?

Declare to your manager you will only work 8 hours per day and no weeknights and weekends that should get you on the list.

This is the magic trick, just ask to go REMOTE, it always works.

California Employment Development Department (EDD) says the following.

"Code Section 1256 provides: "An individual is disqualified for unemployment compensation benefits if the director finds that he or she left his or her most recent work voluntarily without good cause. . . ." "

One possible drawback: I found an article that says you might not be able to collect unemployment if you volunteer. See FAQ section of https://www.betterteam.com/voluntary-layoff-letter

All you need to do is talk to your manager. If that means saving someone's job, I am sure the management will consider. Your next employer does not care if you volunteered or not. If you are a good fit, they will hire you regardless.
