Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The Retirees disgust me

I know we are suppose to respect them. And I have up until recently. They caused a large of this mess and are leaving with retirement package. They get to complete their career while many of our careers will also end now due to their negligence. It sickens me.

@dor,

Bob Noyce used to extol us, in a similar manner:

"Don't be encumbered by past history--go off and do something wonderful,"

Robert Noyce -1992.

As a Boomer I began my Intel career in the late ‘70’s when Intel was primarily a memory chip supplier. I was there when we added a Systems division and transitioned to primarily a CPU chip company. I transferred to the 8 bit architecture team, which then became the 16, 32 and 64 bit teams. I worked more 50 hour weeks than I can remember, was a member of more Tape Out and First Si teams than I care to remember. Weathered the ‘86 Black Monday layoff and various RIF events in the decades that followed. During my employment Intel stock split 6 times and we were the number one semiconductor company for years on end. When I retired, I left a profitable company, which was reasonably managed to others, including YOU. We created technology, where there was none and new customer markets. Not happy? Look in the mirror.

BK didn't retire, he was fired. He is responsible for most of this mess.

As a boomer, I get the sentiment expressed. My son said similar things about the world as a whole.

It's kind of true. Boomers have left a mess.

But, here's the thing youngsters - it's time for you to show us how it's done. Go create something on your own and see how easy or hard it is.

This is what's wrong with Intel.... passing the buck. If they know something was broken, they should've called it out and try fixing it, or escalate till someone did do something. Instead, they go on a an anonymous message board and post generalizations, and blame someone else. This is why Intel is failing.

Old folks made money by running a 30 year old factory until it became broke and uncompetitive with machines that are just as old without getting new machines or factories. The boomer generation left nothing for the new generation to build upon. At this point I think boomers enjoy leaving the next generation a broken down factory to laugh at something on their deathbed.

Us old folk made the company a lot of money so YOU young kids wanted to join us.

Then we hired you kids, now we are losing money. We went woke, now we’ve gone broke.

Stupid post? No it’s not. It’s 100% true and honest. And sorry boomers are getting so butt hurt over it but that’s the reality of it.

It appears a lot ofthem were those “everyone gets a trophy” parent and now they want their own trophies . But based on performance or capitalism whatever they are going on about -but by their own rules they don’t deserve it.

As “ leaders” and Elder statesman of the Intel you have driven us at full speed directly into a wall. And you want to a prize for it. They are disgusting and deserve no respect.

Blame this debacle on retirees who were not part of the decisions being made the past two decades and not the BOD who are to blame for selecting incompetent CEO's.
Go find a pacifier!

There are a lot of retirees that tried to fight the machine and get the company back on track that were let go because of their efforts.

Yeah, these boomers wasted Intels money. It's a mess because of these old people that are just too senile to figure out they're no longer competitive, relevant and wanted. They know Intel is doing what they're doing to get rid of them.

If really are a shareholder you should be the one leading the charge calling for the retirees heads. They lost a lot of money.

I got 20 years experience, but that doesn't matter because boomers have 40 years experience of not knowing how to build a factory since 1990.

Fu-k the boomers! They literally made or allowed this sh-t show to happen. And are getting rewarded for it. Leaving us to put the pieces back together. Fu-k them. They are sc-m. And they awards, applause and accolades for their retiring. They want a hero’s goodbye. They don’t deserve it. They are leaving ruins behind and want us to applaud them for it? Fu-k them!

You must be a youngster and don't yet understand how the free market works. I worked 40 years as an engineer at four separate very large well known companies. I've never been fired, but I always quit before they each went out of business.
You need to learn how to read the tea leaves and learn when a company is starting to fail.
